Bought the eggstractor at big lots b/c it was cheap and i was curious (i like making deviled eggs). read the negative reviews and then the rebuttal. he's right, you have to read all the directions and you have to push down hard and fast. i either have my husband do the pushing part or, set it lower so i can get more force behind it. if it's up on a countertop, it's hard to get enough muscle and inertia behind it. a lower counter, coffee table, or even a plastic placemat or cutting board on the floor is a good place to do it.

My Story: The first time I used this product, it worked VERY well. It worked even though I skimmed thru the directions. The second time I used it, it was horrible. However, my girlfriend, who loves to read directions told me that I had to use large or extra large eggs, and I was using medium. So, I went back to the directions and followed them. The end result, it is a wonderful product. I love pickled beet eggs and make 12 or more dozen at a time, for myself and for friends. My last batch, 6 dozen eggs, I had 2 eggs that didn't go well. 2 out of 72, I think that's impressive. My advice, read the directions. You MUST put them in ice water, you MUST boil them as directed, you MUST use salt in the water and you MUST use large or extra large eggs. All small details for saving a lot of time.
