Faradays are nice gadgets to have around. I keep a couple for emergencies and they've always performed as expected. Of course, I expect it to take a couple minutes of vigorous shaking before it provides me with a couple of minutes of portable light. In a power-out, it won't provide you with light for the evening, but it will be enough to find the candles. And, by the way, the "crank" types of light will give you more light for your efforts than the "shaking" types.

I bought a set of the Faraday Flashlights at [] and love them! I have children and was getting tired of finding my flashlights with dead batteries. These flashlights are much more durable than the ones I have previously bought in the stores. I am very happy with them. I keep the larger one in the hallway on the phone table. Every once in a while, my kids and even my kids friends will just pick it up and shake it for a few seconds. I do it too and find it is kind of fun. It is nice to have a flashlight handy that is always ready to go without having to search for batteries. Plus, I like the idea of reducing the need for batteries, which is good for the environment. The smaller one does require that you hold the button down to keep the light on. I keep that one in my car for emergencies. The larger one made a great educational tool for my 10 year son who likes science. We can see inside the flashlights through the clear bodies. I was able to explain to him that the magnet passing through the copper coil produces electricity. He could see how it works.

Tired of always having flashlights with dead batteries, I bought some of these flashlights at a flea market. They were very cheap, around $2.50 each, and i checked every one before i bought it. I only use them for emergency use..in cars, on motorcycle and several around in the house for when power goes out. All have LED, no bulbs. These things work but dont expect it will be as bright as a normal flashlight. Like i said, they are fine for emergency use!

I work for a wealthy kook. Whe he cant sleep he buys stuff he sees on infomercials. One day a box arrives with 10 of the Faraday Flashlight sets. I took one out shook it a while and got some light out of it. Months later I was looking for something in a storage room, went for a flashlight- batteries dead. I grabbed the Faraday shook it and found what I waas looking for. I took one and put it in the trunk of my car and it's come in handy several times. It's not much light, and way more exercise than I want, but it does more or less what it's supposed to. Also it's anoying that you have to hold the button on the small light for it to work. Granted I got mine for free. If I had paid $20 + s&h, I'd be dissapointed.
