I have had the unit for three years. I have mostly tile floors and I think it is great. It easily jumps from tile to rugs. It fills up with Dog and Cat hair. It has only once gone down the stairs. Any problems I have with it are my own. My kids leave stuff out and some toys get stuck. It likes to eat sock also. But for keeping the pet fur under control it is fine.

There will always be people who have issues, but I'm willing to bet 90% of them don't follow the instructions.

I've had mine for 2+ years and have not had one single issue. It works amazingly and saves a ton of time. The only thing you have to do is keep it clean and it WILL do what is says.

I've dealt with irobot with my Scooba which had battery issues and found them to be very responsive and helpful.

I purchased the Roomba 500 series in January and is honestly one of the best purchases I have made. I am always suspect of positive review as I think they probably work for the company, but I do not and am in no way associated with them. I just had a HUGE dog shedding problem and have thought about the Roomba for years. I was in a hotel for business and watched the same infomercial two nights in a row. When I got home, I decided to order it on-line. There was an offer of $49 down, and $100 a month for 4 months with a 30 day money back guarantee. I decided to give it a try because I have two dogs and the shedding was about to cause a divorce. I would spend 15 minutes five times a week vacuuming just the living room and the very next day it would be covered in dog hair again. The newest series of Roomba the 500 said it was designed for dog owners with a larger storage so it can vacuum more. It also has a larger side brush that can get into corners and along the wall. I bought it and have LOVED every minute of it. I vacuum the bedroom one day and the living room the next so they each get it every other day, and my home office twice a week. Finally, my guest room and formal dining room (not used nearly as much) I run it there once a week. I still have it, but NEVER use my upright vacuum anymore. The Roomba works just as well as a regular vacuum. The suction is fantastic and even leaves the same vacuum patterns in the carpet an upright leaves. The $500 was a little much for my budget but for anyone who has dogs it is well worth it! It even has several features that I don’t use but others might like. It has a remote (not sure why really), and you can program the Roomba to start when you are not home or when you are asleep and a series of guides they call lighthouses that allows the Roomba to finish one room completely, then automatically go to the next room. And though I own a one story home, it does have a sensor that stops it from going over any edge which just out of curiosity I tested by putting it on my kitchen counter and it worked perfectly! So what are the good and the bad? The VERY good is that I come home and pick Roomba up off the charger, set it in whichever room I am vacuuming, push the start button and it just goes and goes until it finishes which averages about 30 minutes a room. It makes a special noise when it is done, and then stops. I just come back later when I think of it and put it on the recharger. I don’t fully understand the technology but it does completely cover every bit of a room before it stops. The floor will go over most living room rugs as long as the fringes are not too long (could get caught up there) but I have one in the living room with no fringe and it goes straight from the carpet onto the rug and off without a hitch. It does maybe 1 out of 4 times get caught up on the bathroom plush rugs if I forget to close the bathroom door in the bedroom. When the Roomba comes across other objects on the floor it will either bump into it and turn (just like those battery powered toy cars we had as kids that would hit a wall and change direction) or depending on how light the item is i.e. tennis ball, it will just push it along as if it wasn’t there. A really IMPORTANT benefit for me is that my dogs were always so afraid of my upright and would take off running and hide when I vacuumed, but now with Roomba they mostly ignore it and are at most, if anything just annoyed by it. What I mean is that they will just lay down on the floor and ignore it as it goes zooming by, but every now and then the dogs end up in Roomba’s path and if they are in the way it bumps into them and turns and goes another way. Dogs just moan, get up turn in a circle and lay back down. So now the DOWNSIDE of Roomba. To tell the truth, I can happily say there is not too much I can say bad about it. But the one thing is that I do empty the storage bin on it after each use and after every other use I turn the Roomba over pop out the two brushes (that easy) and clean them off as the dog hair does just like a hair brush with soft bristles begin to overwhelm it where it won’t work as well. So that takes me about 5 minutes every other day. Also it is not really an issue for me since I just rotate rooms throughout the week but the charge is a little over an hour so you could probably only do two full rooms at a time and maybe halfway through a third without a recharge. Not sure how long that takes, nothing excessive but I would guess a couple of hours. That is the only negative I have come across. And FINALLY, the VERY BEST FEATURE of the Roomba is that it is quiet enough that I can sit in the living room and watch TV, or carry on a conversation while it is vacuuming that room for the full 30 minutes or so. You of course can hear it but no more than you would watching TV and hearing the dishwasher going in the next room. So it allows me to vacuum when I walk in from work and do it every day and not have to actually DO IT myself or stop any of my normal routines, with the exception of lifting my feet up for two seconds when it occasionally comes zooming by. And yes, partly because there is NO MORE dog hair in my house I am still happily married!

I have had the Roomba 560 for several months now and I have to tell you that I'm thrilled with the product. It vacuums the floor for around an hour and a half for me, then docks itself and the battery charges fully every time. I do not use the scheduler, however, because I have a cat that sheds a lot and I need to be here to empty the chamber at 15 minute intervals or it might get clogged. Other than that little inconvenience, it works very well on my rugs and hardwood floors, vacuuming in corners and against the walls very, very well. And, when it's done, I see no dirt on my floor at all.

( like if people are coming over and roomba hasn't yet) but other then that roomba does it all. under the bed ect. and the cs are ALL nice ive talked to them several times. and they send out brushes and stuff for free. great company great product. don't be fooled by the people that posted bad about it!

I have been usins Roomba for 4 years now, I have had such good results that I purchased a second. With my low pile carpet and a husky that sheds non-stop it has been great. I don't even use an upright vac, I just keep a small shop vac on hand for dusting in places the Rhoomba can't reach. I look forward to trying the scuba.

The roomba is an awesome product! I have mostly hardwood floors and it fills up Every time! On my carpet it does wonders and pulls out even small pieces of kitty litter.

Battery problems can be averted by charging it directly (with the cord plugged into the provided port) for 3 days. They are most always a little slow out of the box on batter life but now mine runs for almost an hour per charge.

I admit it never makes it back to its base but that ain't bad for not having to vacuum fully every week.

I heart Roomba! Scooba is great, too. I've had the 560 for 6 months now. It has been a blessing. I cannot believe what Roomba picks up. The features on this particular model are fantastic. iRobot's claims are also spot-on. I highly recommend the Roomba. Oh, and I was skeptical of this product until my mom got one as a gift. She's very particular in regards to cleaning. I felt that if she found Roomba to be legit, than it must be.

Roomba rules!! and so does Scooba!

Have been a happy Roomba owner for over 2 years and Scooba owner for 1 year. I recommend both.

I do love this vacuum because it DOES clean up the floors/rugs. It helps me cut back on my heavy duty cleaning, saves me time, and it is very easy to operate. If I needed another one I would certainly by another Roomba.

I didn't buy this product from an infomercial, but I found this website, and I thought I needed to write this. I am on my third Roomba in about 5 years. I love them. The company is easy to deal with. When I've contacted them them either via email or phone, they have been very helpful. I've gotten a new battery, and even a complete new unit from them at no charge. They DO work, and you can see that when the unit finishes and you clean out the dustbin. No it is not a heavy duty vacuum, but I believe it does a better job than a human, because it covers every inch of the floor, and even gets under things (beds, tables, and even furniture if it is high enough). When my latest one wears out, I will buy another.

I am delighted to see far more praises for the Roomba than complaints!! I LOVE IT!! I have no problem with it's performance, the battery life, or anything about it. It saves me a LOT of time cleaning my house, and I am a nit-picker about the appearance of my home. The whiners don't seem to know how to use it or care for it.

I have had one for almost a year and have been totally satisfied with the product for what it is. It is NOT a heavy duty vacuum. However for light duty clean up on both bare floors and low to medium pile rugs I have been totally satisfied

I have the older Roomba 416. If you follow the instructions, it does work as advertised. People complaining about it just don't understand how it is supposed to work. It is not a maid. It is a low-suction carpet sweeper intended for maintenance, not for heavy dirt cleanups. Give it an hour for a room, and it will eventually pick up most everything. I have new carpets and three cats. The brush gets wrapped with carpet fibers and cat hairs after a while. No problem, 5 minute cleanup and it's back in business. It will occasionally get stuck on the edge of a rug or on the transition from carpet to hard floor, or get itself under a chair and can't get out. Again, not problem. It calls for help. The point it that it is mostly autonomous and you can go about your other activities while Roomba does its thing. I also have a Dirt Dog. It picks up sawdust, nails, staples, etc.. in my shop without a complaint. It has problems with larger wood chips, but it wasn't designed as a shop-vac. I recently purchased a Looj, but have yet to use it.

I Love Roomba! even when I don't have it presently, I bought it at Sears and the first one got broken after a month, because I did not knew how to do the maintenance properly and there was one more filter I haven't found out where it was. The second also got broken after one month use, I was doing something wrong, I have a German Sheppard and his hair is too thick, I wasn't doing the maintenance to it I confess. I got full refund for the product and they wanted to give me a third one. I didn't accepted at the time because I recognized it needed more maintenance I was willing to do. I wanted to wait for the product to be more perfected (this was one year ago), I dream of Roomba, it is a wonderful product, shouldn't be listed here, people should be honest like to accept they didn't clean it properly and the sensors get too dirty and stops working.
I recommend this product 100% I am getting a new one soon, its totally worth it, I would let in on and leave the house, when I get there everything is clean! even the carpets have the texture up like when I use the bigger vacuum. Just one advice, do as they say and keep the filter clean, otherwise it won't work more than a month.

I'm surprised to see the Roomba listed as a scam - I've owned one for over a year and it works as advertised. It's gotten stuck once or twice under the couch, but that's about the only problem that I've had. I run mine three or four times per week. It generally runs for about an hour at a time. I've got an indoor/outdoor cat and the Roomba picks up his hair and other assorted bits of junk that he drags in. The Roomba does require a bit of maintenance, but nothing onerous. I clean the brushes and filter after each use - that's about it. The Roomba vacuums a linoleum floored kitchen and a low pile carpeted dining/living room combo. No problems.

A few years ago, I broke my foot severely, which left me immobile in a cast for 2 months and unable to do simple house hold chores. Because I lived on my own with two dogs, I was eager to return to some type of normalcy and clean. My mother mentioned the Roomba to me because it has a remote control, and I could remain on the couch and direct the roomba to where I wanted it to go. The product was not meant to be used for huge messes, but instead it helps to keep some type of maintenance. I was able to sweep my kitchen (from the couch), I was able to vacuum my den and living room, from my couch! It picked up most of the dog fur, as well as crumbs from their food dishes. This vacuum allowed me to feel better about my situation. I’m not sure about everyone here, but a clean house makes me feel better, and when you aren’t able to do simple tasks such as vacuum; it can make you feel horrible! Roomba gave me a way to feel better! I have since loaned my roomba to my mother who just underwent Bi Lateral Knee Replacements. She was able to lay in bed and do something that made her feel better. I now have my roomba back and I will be loaning it to a co worker of mine who is undergoing foot surgery for bone spurs at the end of this month. This little miracle made me feel like I could be normal during an abnormal time of my life. It should not be listed as a scam!

Roomba shouldn't be listed as scam. I have two cats and if I didn't have Roomba with me, I would have to be vacuuming the floor every single day. It may not do a 100% perfect job but believe me, it is totally worth the money you pay for it. I do use the regular super power vacuum cleaner every 2 weeks to work on the areas where Roomba doesn't have access, like between some furniture or corners, etc.
Basically you will still need to use the regular vacuum cleaner every couple of weeks but that's definitely more convenient than doing it every day (if you have pets), Roomba can be run everyday and it does its job. That's why I think it shouldn't be reported as scam.

Wow...I'm surprised. We have 4 cats, 1 Roomba. If it weren't for that Roomba, we'd be vac'ing all the time. Our 'bot does the rugs, and the tile floors. Yeah it occasionally gets stuck in places it can't get out of, but that's what we use the virtual walls for. And when we don't have enough virtual walls to block the 'bot, we use baskets and stuff. The 'bot bumps 'em and turns itself around.

I was also surprised to see the Roomba listed as a scam. I have an old english sheep dog and hardwood floors. As long as I keep the filters clean the Roomba works really well for me. I don't think it's a scam, but I think there are a lot of variables. If you have thick carpet for example, it may not be the best choice. I think you need to do a bit of research before purchasing. For me it's been great. If you have a lot of carpet and dogs that shed a lot, it may not be right for you.
