I was surprised to see the Roomba listed on this site, and I'm still not sure I understand why people think it's a scam. Of course it's less powerful than some huge Dyson, but you're paying for the convenience and comfort of not having to drag around that heavy vacuum. Just because you're not 100% satisfied with something doesn't make it a scam. I asked for the Scheduler model as a gift, and I still love it. The scheduling function can be rather annoying, but the vacuum itself is great. I bought one (a non-Scheduler) for my parents, who don't love it as much as I do -- it's not as effective on their hardwood floors and extra-thick carpeting -- but they run it throughout the week to pick up pet hair and such, and just use a broom and a "real" vacuum on the weekend. I have normal carpeting and only one pet, so I generally use the Roomba alone. It works well on the tiles, too, but I have to occasionally sweep under the corner cabinets and in other places where a round vacuum can't easily reach. Again, the Roomba is not a scam. People may have varying success with it, but it's a good, reliable product that I have recommended to others. I *really* hate vacuuming, so I was excited when I discovered this product a couple years ago. Thankfully, I wasn't disappointed.

My older brother bought a roomba for our apartment (we go to college in the same area so we're roomates)It rocks. It works on both the hardwood and the rugs. Though in my room it has a tough time cause I'm a slob. It's easy to use and I painted it to look like the terminator.

I received the Roomba Scheduler from my children for Christmas and I just love it. We have dogs and I had to vacuum daily to pick up the dog hair. Now I use the Roomba. This has been such a time saver and it really works well. When this one breaks, I will have another one by the next day! I have already put in my request for next Christmas - a Roomba Scrubber!

I own both a Roomba and a Scooba and I can tell you my house is a whole lot cleaner than it ever was before. I vacuum with Roomba nearly every day and it picks up the dog and cat hair as well as their food crumbs and regular dust and dirt. I have linoleum tile, carpeting and ceramic tile on the first floor and Roomba glides easily from one surface to the next. This is one of my favorite appliances, I hope to never live without one again.

Roomba is not for everyone. If you have a lot of clutter on your floors, don't buy one of these. You may still need to vacuum with your standard machine every so often, but the Roomba really DOES work well for those touch up jobs. You do have to do some cleaning of the machine itself. It fills up pretty quick. Make sure you read your instructions. It's a good unit. The machine that mops floors works even better!

I too love my roomba and I do have tile floors for the most part but it also does well with the carpeted floors. I do make sure to keep the filters clean, but I have simply washed them out at the sink and let them air dry. It does work well and I have had really no problems with the machine.

I loved my Roomba. I received it as a Christmas gift last year. Unfortunately I did not have it plugged into a surge protector and it was zapped by a power surge during a lightning storm this past summer. The Roomba is a very efficient floor sweeper, especially if you have pets in the home. It worked great on my hardwood floors, just remember to plug it into a surge protector!

I think the Roomba Vacuum works great especially if you need to vacuum those hard to reach areas such as underneath a bed with a low bed frame and you can't use a traditional vacuum to do it since it's only reach so far underneath your bed. I love this product and I am looking forward to buying the Roomba Floor Cleaner that mops and dries your floors.

My parents own this product. we have a golden retriever and beleive me, this product works. the tray in the back of the unit is ALWAYS packed with dust and hair, which it picks up very well. Roomba is not a scam... but its not magic, anyone who is upset that it gets stuck SOMETIMES, or that it isnt completely perfect, it has not been designed specifically for YOUR home, they do their best to make it the most versatile for all situations, it is very sophisticated mechanically. does a great job... this product doesnt deserve to be on this site, anyone who feels ripped off has set thier expectations WAYY too high

It's shocking to see someone thinks the irobot Roomba is a scam! I'm defending this product, because I have two of them... one upstairs and one downstairs. I ordered them over a year ago, two Sages, along with scheduling packs. They run *every day,* and pick up the hair from four long-haired cats and a shaggy dog, kitty litter... the works. Also, they aren't excessively noisy, and do not disturb the cats at all. In addition, they know not to fall down the stairs, and they transition easily from our hard floors (Wood and concrete) to our area rugs. I did have a slight problem with one of them upon arrival, but customer service was easy to reach, friendly, *patient*, and they solved my problem immediately. This product has made my life so much easier and my home so much cleaner; I don't have the time to vacuum every day!

DefensesI'm surprised to see the Roomba on a scams site. I have had a Roomba for a couple of years and it is the real thing - NOT a scam at all. I am very happy with mine. If you let it clean the floors frequently it is quite good. Just put it in a room, turn it on and go do something else. Be reasonable in your expectations - don't expect it to do as good a job as a full sized vacuum with a human attached, but it does a very adequate job of light vacuuming and the floors are noticeably cleaner after it has finished.

The Roomba has several models and if you do the proper research you can find out the defects of each one. The one I purchased was the second or third model and I loved it. I cleaned my kitchen floors and docked when it was done. I lost my Roomba in a divorce but you better believe I will replace it in a heart beat because I will swear by my Roomba. It is the best product I know for someone who has little time on their hands for cleaning especially if you have kids. Everyone knows how kids love to drag dirt and sand in the house. My Roomba met the challenge and I really miss that little machine. It can be loud at times but no louder than a cheap dish washer. I would recommend setting this thing on its way while you are at work or running around doing your chores.

I purchased the Roomba Vac without much expectation of it working, and if it didn't work, I was going to return it promptly. It had a 60 day return policy, and within 1 week, I was a believer. I run it in one room every day (turn it on in the morning before I leave, and charge it at night), and it really cuts down on helping me keep a house with two dogs clean. Now the directions do say that for deep cleaning, still use a traditional vacuum, which I agree with. But by running this on a regular basis, my "traditional vacuum" days have been reduced to once a month. I don't think it works as well on tile or hardwood as it does on carpets, and that's a shame. The little brush that comes out to clean corners and where the baseboard meets the floor is too short, and this is mainly where you'll spend your time on "traditional vacuum" days. Other than that, I love the vacuum trail it leaves on my carpet, just like a regular vac., and I love the time it saves me. I can clean something else while it is vacuuming, or during the week, it vacuums while I'm driving to work. Keep the bristles, filters and insides clean, or the suction won't work as weel.

There may be imitations or knonk offs out there?...but the true Roomba-Discovery by iRoboot works GREAT. I know I have two of them and they work for me every day. I have given them as gifts and know others that have bought them. Perhaps there may have been issues years ago, but the 2004-2005 models are very effective. They pick up as much or more than traditioanl Vacs...and you can run them every day. Anyone that claims that it does not clean their home, has bigger problems than the machine! They are truley incredible inventions and I can only wonder what they will be in a couple more years.
