First of all I have to say I am not a gym person at all. Even though I had a gym membership I only went a few times within this last year. My main reason for purchasing a Total Gym was to have something at home that I can use without feeling uncomfortable around strangers. I purchased a Total Gym 1700 online and I am very pleased with this machine. I like that an excercise guide came with it. It was very helpful to me to get me started. I have been using it for a month and even though I have not lost lbs yet my body has definatley changed for the better. I have lost an inch on my waist. I love using the dip bars for my arms and the wing accessory for leg pulls. Since buying this machine I have cancelled by gym membership and I find myself looking forward to working out.

I have an older "Total Gym" that I purchased for about $100. It is true that it is heavy, but it is also sturdy and well-made. I work out at a Gym and also Jazzercise. I find the total gym allows me to get a fair workout over a bunch of different muscle groups in a small amount of time. This is not recommended, but I put a six-inch block under the support post to give me higher angles for a greater workout. I do not try to store it out of sight, but I simply fold it up and it only takes up about two feet of space in from a corner of a room.

Ok well if anyone has actually watched the entire infomercial...
while yes they do say storage & steup is easy and it is not....
thats the only claim they should not have made! They do not say once that the workouts are easy,or that you won't have to put in a lot of effort to see results. It is a great machine, thats so cool. But you can't please everyone. I myself like Nintendo, you may not. Same thing with fitness...mabey its the Total Gym or a Bowflex or whatever. Find what works for you & do it. For millions it is the Total Gym! However, for millions it is also no machine at all! And for all these people putting down the Total Gym....I bet not one of them has a photo of themselves to share! Fitness is work,it is not fun,it does not happen overnight / but like anything worth having it is worth if you are willing to work for it. The Total Gym simplifies the whole process greatly .... but even with the Total Gym you have to be deadicated and willing to work hard for the reasults!

My mom bought me the total gym when I was in high school. Now I am graduating from college and I still use it. I'm a professional model and I use my total gym instead of going to the fitness club. I have a few freinds who compete in body building competitions and I had them test out my total gym for me. They told me it was suitable for someone wanting to tone the body or build muscle. I will agree that the total gym is NOT as easy to put away as claimed in the infomercial. Putting it away is a workout in itself! However, if all you are concerned about when ordering this product is how easy it is to store, then I think you are missing the point.

It's not a bad design, and I did get decent results with it. I didn't think it was doing much until a co-worker asked me a few weeks after getting the machine if I started working out. I did a lot of research before buying one at [], which I got for $90. My main complaint is that some excercises don't have enough resistance, while some are way too hard. The range of movement is also strange in some excercises - doing the recommended shoulder workouts made my shoulder tendonitis worse. Putting it away is sort of a pain in the ass, but if you don't have 60 seconds to set up and put away an excercise machine you've got other problems. Sure you can cut your finger off or hit your head, but you can do the same thing (and more likely to do so) by closing your car door. What's next, complaining that weight sets are too heavy? Anyway, I discovered the wonders of using dumbells and an excercise ball, which is way better, safer, and more time-efficient than the Total Gym. I ended up hacking the legs off and welding it to the cushion frame, making myself a nice dumbell bench.

I have the XL Infomercial It's heavy for a woman, but I'm getting stronger! I love it. I had a Bowflex X2 and I feel I get a better all body workout from the Total Gym. I sold the X2 and I use the Total Gym now. I'm firming up all over and my stomach, arms legs, shoulders and back! It's the best. My only problem is unhooking the cables...a little difficult.

I bought a Total Gym at a sporting goods store a couple of months ago, and i think it's a great piece of equipment. The whiners will find a problem with everything, and the fatty that uses it one day, gets sore, and is disappointed that they are still a mess are going to be a problem with everything from diets, gym memberships and any other equipment. I haven't done the storage thing, but it goes together in 15 minutes or so, and is a GREAT workout! I am addicted...go total gym!

I got a total gym off of E-bay about 6 months ago. I did a lot of research before buying the product. I store it under my bed and I rent a room in a house so my space is limited. I have seen great results and it's really fun. I use the 6 minute makeover tape and the Pilates tape and they're great. I took a yoga class last month for the first time in 3 years and I was just as flexible and strong as when I had last taken it and I haven't done anything except use the total gym. I also lost 5 inches and 40 pounds. My fiance began using it a couple months ago and he loves it and he cancelled his gym membership. As for the moving it around, I feel it's a little petty to focus on that when it's a great machine. Out of all the slams that you read just keep in the back of your mind that all they complain about is storage and it isn't really that hard to store.

I agree that the total gym is a little heavier than I expected, and opening closing it is a little tiresome - although it can be done in 60 seconds. But apart from that, having used the gym for a while now, I am getting the same kind of feeling from the Total Gym that I was getting from those machines in the gym or free weights, it really is excellent. But I would recommend using it is a slow and controlled manner. Make sure that you are seated comfortably, balanced and composed before you start on an exercise. I even get my kids to sit with me for some of the exercises - they get a fun ride up and down the gym, I get extra weight to carry up and down!!!

I bought the cheaper version of Total Gym for $99 from a dept. store, K's Merchandise, (not the much more expensive Chuck Norris-endorsed one on TV), and I think it works great. It appears to be basically the same, maybe simpler and maybe not as well-made? as the TV version, but I weigh between 245-220lbs and it hasn't broken down. I haven't tried to store it, so if you judge it on ability to be stored away easily, maybe it fails on that count? I would recommend this to anyone though, it has helpled to keep me in shape.

I bought the Total Gym 1000 about 3 years ago and have had very little trouble with it. Every now and again, I had to replace the rollers because I exceeded the weight limit. Storing it was cumbersome at first, but after a few days, I got the hang of folding and opening it. I agree that it isn't as easy to store as they lead you to believe, but I don't put it in a closet. I just move it into a corner and move it back out when I'm ready to use it.

I purchased the total gym 1000 (which is the low end version) at DAMART which is a closeout shop. It is very easy to use, I fold it up after every use and I have had no trouble changing the levels. My only problem is using it the three times a week I should be. Obviously, the 1000 is not as nice as the one in the infomercial, but it does work if you're carefull and you inspect it before each use. I will admit that Bowflex looks better, but I can't justify it.

I purchased my first Total Gym, a model 2000, five years ago. What I like about the Total Gym is it's ability to adapt to any starting fitness level and then allow the user to set his or her goals with ease. The smooth and extended resistance gives a really good workout that makes one feel limber and loosened up at the same time. I do feel however that the home system does wear out to fast. The rollers under the gliderboard and the cables showed significant wear after two years of use every other day, My recommendation, Spend the extra four hundred bucks or so and get the Pro version Model 11000 that is used in rehab centers. I did and did not regret my decision. The Total Gym is now part of my healthy lifestyle.

Are you complaining that a commercial quality system that is heavy duty is to heavy? there are low end retail versions for those of you too out of shape to pick up a 67 pound total gym. This product has been voted one of the top home systems for several reasons, none of which imply that it is lightweight. When we close these orders you are informed of the full weight of the system and nobody ever complains! If you want to down the product for not working that is one thing, complaining about the sturdy construction of a quality product: Ridiculous. you are the same type of people who sue mcdonalds for serving you fattening food or coffee that is too hot. stop blaming are quality construcion on your inability to safely follow directions in the first 10 minutes of the instructional video. The system practically walks itself out for your set up and folds up just as easily if you do it the right way. We make it easy to use it is warrantied for life and does more exercises then any other product on the market. What do we have to do? Come to your house and lift you onto the machine? Grow up and find a real problem with this produt before you try to degrade it for everyone else.

The total gym works. The only complaints I have seen, is that it is it hard to setup and store away. I have used it and love it. I have seen a complaint on almost every infomercial product. Most of the complaints have no merit at all.
