I am not defending the product but the manner in which they responded. I too did not read the small print. I ordered Quickbook (which I receive in a timely manner)from the website. A week later I received online investing at which time my credit card was charged with $189.95. I contacted their customer service by Email indicated I only wanted the quickbook lesson. Within two days I got a response with a return Authurization # and they will reverse the charge on my credit card by September 28, 2008. I also sent a copy of their Email to credit card conpany.

It's not that hard just read the fine print!

If it's illegal why are they still selling.

I had ordered the [] product a few weeks ago online and didn't read the fine print in the How it Works section. Just noticed that in addition to the $6.95 I was charged for the initial shipping I had incurred an additional charge for $189.95. OK, my own fault. I saw in the booklet that came with the product that by purchasing the product I was automatically subscribed to receive additional lessons and could be charged every five weeks. There was a number to call if you wished to not receive further shipments. I called 1-800-519-4110 and got a representative right away. I simply told her that I did not wish to receive any more products and she told me that she unsubscribed me and there would be no additional shipments or charges. I did right down her name and the time I called. Hopefully that will be the end of it. I had also heard that there were various things that the program installed such as viruses etc. I ran a virus scan after using the first lesson (which was OK) and the only thing the scan picked up was a low level tracking cookie which it removed.

I ordered Word 2000 and Excel 2000 in 03 and had no problem. The do try to offer you other products but if you say I will not order the disks if you keep up with the sales pitch they will stop and take your order. Document the time and name of the person you are talking to, Tape the conversation if you want just tell them you are recording if you want to cover yourself.

I would defend the product as you are getting what you paid for but as the gentleman said, use your listening skills. I believe people are using their skills, and that is why we are now on this site. Because people could later catch on the the scam.. IT takes awhile but it does eventually catch up to you.

I kept my video professor program because the amount spent was not a loss for me, I gave it to somebody as a gift.

I ordered Photoshop CS2....while ordering the sales rep tried to get me to say yes to other products being offered for free or on a trial and can be returned any time.... I made sure to say NO to everything other then the cs2 3 dics set i wanted. If i didn't like it i could return 1 of the 3 discs and keep the other 2 for free. The only PROBLEM i had was i was assured the discs would work on a mac... but are PC based only. I called the customer serivce when I recived the discs and a requested a refund for the shipping and handling (which if recived a creidt on my visa) and was told the pre-paid shipping envolope would be sent to me to send the discs back. The envolope ever came so i kept all 3 discs for FREE... and the totorials are great.

I ordered and received the Photoshop CD's. After I got them, I READ the terms on the package. After trying it and deciding I didn't want it, I called, got a return authorization number and returned the product. I was never billed for anything else, never received anything else. Customer service was good, as they didn't try to talk me into anything else. The key here is READ THE POLICIES!!!

Thank God for the Photoshop CS course. My principal asked me, one week before school started, to add Photoshop to my curriculum. I got the CD and learned a lot very quickly. I actually looked forward to the lessons and had fun! I just wish the company offered Flash, Dreamweaver, and advanced courses. I know I sound like an informercial, and I know not everyone learns best this way, but the Video Professor offers excellent products.

I may or may not indirectly work for this company however that does not disqualify me from giving my personal opinion - First off, all of you people need to revert back to the 1st grade where they taught us how to LISTEN, and how to use our listening SKILLS. The representative pitching this product to you is doing so because you gave them consent to be transfered, therefore allowing the representative to present the offer to you. In the offer, the representative reads special scripts to each and every customer that gains consent to send these "oh so mysterious, why are 'these people' still sending me stuff???" continued shipments. YOU agree to everything that has been shipped to you, whether you are really paying attention or not. People need to realize that this is a legally binding agreement, you can't just fake your way through everything in life. Listen to what people are telling you, and maybe you won't be charged for things you do not want. Don't interrupt, and maybe you won't miss an important piece of information. Video Professor wouldn't send items to a customer unless they consented to receive these items on recorded tape. When used, these lessons are actually really helpful (just ask me, now I know almost everything about HTML.) If you don't want to pay for things you don't want, then (a) don't ask for them (b) send them back (c) hang up the phone. It's that easy. If you can't even process a phone order for some self help cd's for your computer, perhaps you should consider some other self help cd's instead of VP. Have a great day.

I bought 4 CD's from Video Professor. (Access, Photoshop 7, Photoshop CS, an d Adobe). I made sure I read the internet page and realized they cost about 90 dollars. (I am not sure what other people had happen to them, but I WAS told the price). I liked the first ones I got (although a bit more simplistic than I was lead to expect) but the fourth I didn't have any use for. I called them up, told them I'd like to cancel, and sent the fourth one back. That was 4 months ago, no charges since, and no, I'm not with the company. How much of the problem in the complains is VP and how much is companies sending in orders to VP I don't know, but my OWN experience with the company was positive enough.

Like many, I too ordered a "free" lesson from Video Professor. In all honesty, I did not read the fine print that came along with the order and did not realize I was going to be charged $90. When the charged showed up, I call them and was told that free meant only to try it. If I kept it I would be charged. While I'm not overly impressed with the product, I ate the $90 as a lesson to learn. Then, another charge shows up. Luckily, the card was at max at that point, so they couldn't hit me with the full price. When I called back, I was informed that Video Professor is kind of like Columbia House Records. I told the lady that I was not interested in any other products. While she tried several times to offer me more "free" merchandise, she agreed to cancel my account and to refund the money that had been added to my card. This was done and I have not heard anything back from them and have not been charged for anything else. While I don't like the sales tactics they use, they did respond fairly and honestly to my calls and did what they said they would do.

I ordered the DOS cd. Never received it, I was later billed for another set of cd's which I never received. I called customer service and was refunded ALL my money quickly, politely, and professionally.

I work at a call center that takes Video Professor calls. While I think they may be over priced, I certainly know that we're REQUIRED to share the cost after the trail period, or we get written up. We're also required to get a "yes" to the terms, or we CANNOT process the order. I don't see how you can say that you didn't know about the extra charges, because I bust my booty every day sharing them with you. I can certainly tell you that customers don't listen sometimes, and still say "yes." There have been days where I've acutally said, "And you understood all the charges after 10 days?" but the customer STILL said yes, then asked me at the end of the call, "What do you mean there are future charges?" If you don't listen to the operator, don't bother calling.

I was very interested in purchasing the video professor, however after reading the Use Agreement I changed my mind. I just wanted to say that what happened to people who listed comments here was horrible, but the website provides all the information regarding fees, policies, and cancellations. Although it seemed tricky, Video Professor is not solely at fault. Some of the fault lies with the purchasers who failed to read all the fine print. I always say if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, so read everything! Below is from the website. \\\"Video Professor may offer various opportunities to access our software in the online format. For example, Video Professor may offer you the opportunity to try the Software for a fixed period of time (\\\"Trial\\\"); to purchase the right to use the Software for a fixed period of time (\\\"Direct Purchase\\\"); or to subscribe to the subscription service that allows subscribers to view certain Software provided their subscription is current (\\\"Pre-paid Subscription\\\"). At the end of any Trial or other promotional period, we will begin billing your credit card for subscription fees at the current rate in effect for your use of the Software plus any applicable sales taxes. For your convenience, we will charge the subscription fee (plus any taxes) to the credit card you provide to us during registration (or to a different credit card if you change your account information). Your subscription, whether it is Trial or another promotional period, unless it is a Direct Purchase, will automatically renew for successive subscription periods, without prior notice to you, unless and until you cancel your subscription or we terminate it. You must cancel your subscription before it renews in order to avoid billing of subscription fees to your credit card. We will continue to bill your credit card on a monthly basis (or other periodic billing, depending upon the terms of your subscription) for your subscription to the Software until you cancel your subscription. If you are not satisfied with the fees or billing methods, you may cancel your subscription at any time, but Video Professor will not refund any remaining portion of the monthly (or other periodic) fee when you cancel your subscription. If you subscribed to a free or paid Trial period to the Software, you should understand that your subscription runs continuously from your initial subscription regardless of your use of the Software, and to avoid being charged a subscription fee, you must cancel your account before the end of the Trial period. Video Professor reserves the right to change our fees or billing methods at any time, but we will give you thirty (30) days advance e-mail notice of these changes if your subscription fee(s) will be affected. In certain circumstances, termination charges may apply if you cancel prior to the end of a designated term, if, for example, you have obtained a bonus product. You are responsible for any charges for premium content incurred using your subscription and these charges apply even during a Trial period.\\\"
