May 21, 2008. Today I received 3 "Awesome Auger" sets. I did call to order one and an automated operator took my order. I placed an order for 1 drill, 1 auger and 1 extender, I THOUGHT. There was an offer made for an additional set at a discounted price and I thought my Mom would appreciate one. Again, I thought it was for a drill, auger and extender, but after another very long automated spill, the recording offered to charge me more shipping and handling and an additional amount if I wanted another drill.??????????? At this prompt I asked the computer, that was taking my order, to "CANCEL ALL". Since the computer was taking the order I thought it was only logical that the person pulling the information for the order from the system, would also hear my request to CANCEL ALL. Guess what came to me today? You guessed it. Three(3) auger sets that I didn't know I had ordered. No extender, no drill. A $26.85 processing and handling fee for a total of $76.70 for all. After calling today, like everyone else, I was not very happy with the outcome. I feel that I was totally deceived by this company and I'm sure that Bob Vila would not have done an advertisement for them had he known of the deceit. By the way I get to send the augers back and I still get to be charged $26.85 for the shipping and handling charges for something I thought I canceled. Shame on this company or whomever was responsible for this deceit. Buyer Beware.

I entered all my info and was waiting for a last screen to give me a total and a screen telling me my order was done with no amount and date. I will only be at that address for a week and now I really don't know what to do. I came across your website and now want to cancel. This is totally outrageous and Billy Mays would endorse this product! What is the best recourse to do.

I ordered this product for a Fathers Day gift and the web site is very confusing, somehow by the time I was finished it had 3 of everything ordered! I only order one with a warranty. I am so angry, I can't reach anyone on the phone, I've called 17 times in the last 3 days and just get a recording "All our represenatives are busy please try your call again later..." and they hang up, what kind of customer service is that? I tried e-mail, the customer service dept. responded and said I need to contact a different customer service dept... and the email address they gave me is a different one than the one on the recording! What a rip off! I will never order from another infomercial again!

5/20/2008 - Kelly writes:
Not in defense of any of it as I believe it does misrepresent itself but if one REALLY paid attention to the ad it does state that you are responsible for S/P. It is made to sound like it will be $8.95 but pay CLOSE attention it does say you get the bonus items as long as you pay the S/P fee. It DOES NOT specify what that amount will be. It does come down to buyer beware and as the saying goes, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". Is it that the American people are too trustworthy and do not truly pay attention? We hear "Free" and our ears shut down. As far as customer service, they are paid individuals doing a job. They may not believe in it but they too need to feed their families. If it is not in a store, don't get it. Plain and simple.

I wish I'd seen the Infomercial Scams site BEFORE I ordered the Awesome Auger via my computer. The Awesome Auger website is so confusing and annoying that within 5 minutes of ordering I decided I wanted to just cancel the whole thing. I followed their instructions to cancel the order, called all the numbers listed and have tried to e-mail them at least 10 times now with no luck. This all started just 6 days ago. Today I called my credit card company and was told that the charges ($75.70) are pending and all I can do is return the product when it arrives and dispute the charges. I will never order from an infomercial again and intend to write to my state's attorney generals office. These types of practices should be made illegal. My best advice - if you hear (and how can you not hear) Billy Mays touting a product on TV or on your computer, change the channel fast. This will be your first indication that you're listening to a rip-off!

Buyer beware! This product is a rip-off! The $19.95(+ S&H) turned out to be $52.80 when I received the order which by the way is now where near what is advertised. You get to Augers with extenders only! No bonus drill. Don't waste your time or money...

My elderly mother ordered the "Awesome Auger" from the TV ad. She was promised the entire 5-piece set for $19.95 + S & H. All she got was two rods. She was charged $53.00. When she called the company, she was on hold for an hour. When she finally got through, she asked about the rest of the set. She was told she would have to pay an additional $40.00 to get the rest of the product. When she asked how to send it back, she was told that the product was nonrefundable. When she insisted, they gave her a bogus address to send the product back. This is a total scam, and we will be placing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, as well as with the TV station that advertises this product and our local Action Reporter.

BILLY MAYS and COMPANY ... YOU ARE GOING TO BE SUED...and in our CLASS Action Lawsuit AS WELL later......YOU WILL pay US ... one WAY OR another...PRISON for Scam ARTISTS or HELL on earth. This was the MOST GOD AWFUL SCAM I have EVER bought into. I HATED and NEVER trusted Television InfOmercials and THIS "Billy Mays Bull" is gonna MAKE SURE NO ONE ever GETS scammed again. I heard and BELIEVE ME NEVER had time to READ their little tiny printed blurb about HOW they WANTED MORE shipping and HANDLING charges and IF YOU LISTEN to the Commercial NOW and go BACK to the SPOKEN WORDS on the Commercial PITCH on the Internet......YOU WON'T HEAR it either .........OTHERWISE you would NOT have bought INTO "THEIR LYING SCAM" EITHER. It ARRIVED and BAM ~ bam, BULLSHIT... and I was AS MAD as Hell's Fire when I COULD NOT REACH these folks BACK by phone BECAUSE when you call; it DROPS off saying "they are tooooo busy". I STAYED on it FOR FOUR DAYS; and finally PLAYING tricks I got through to a Live PERSON ... Andrea Id #8103.....and BOY was I FURTHER DISGUSTED. I WANTED to "SEND IT BACK" when I found out that EVEN the extender was NOT INCLUDED .... unless MORE paid ADDITIONAL Shipping and Handling charges WERE "ripped off of you". LISTEN to this: $10.00 for the Extender $39.95 for the Drill....PLUS the WHOPPING DEAL for SOOOOOOOOO MUCH more Shipping and HANDLING. I've GOT TO TELL you: I HATE BILLY MAYS ...... AND if I EVER HEAR his voice on the AIR.......ANY WHERE.....I'm GONNA change the channel.....AFTER.... I CURSE him out. I was so mad...my thought was "HOW COULD HE 'RIP' people off like this.....people like myself on 'SET INCOME'...and THEN we find out we have to GIVE MORE for HIS .....BULLSHIT FREE .....deals! BILLY MAYS......GO TO HELL, AND TAKE YOUR AWESOME DEALS with you....you OUTRIGHT SCAM ARTIST. "you ARE going to make a few deals buddy; but WHEN PEOPLE FIND OUT WHAT A CROOK .... YOU and YOUR COMPANY (OR any other company who uses your voice) just YOUR VOICE REMINDS them of..YOU LYING CHEATING SCAMS....it's OVER FOR YOU! You folks READING this; REALIZE that I wanted to SHIP IT BACK; BUT listen, LISTEN to this. WORST SCAM WAS this ONE....to POUR Oil on the FIRE......when you SEND IT BACK ... THEY KEEP a PROCESSING FEE of $19.95....SO what does THAT MEAN???? HE HAS ....>>> STOLEN

I ordered the Awsome Auger as seen on TV show in 2 augers, an extension and a battery powered drill for $19.95 What I received was 2 auger , no extension and a cheap corned drill and a shipping and handeling charge of $28,90. As a senior citizen I try to use caution and avoid the many scams afloat these days but I really got suckered on this one. Please advise me if anyony knowes of any recourse or some way to screw these scoundrells back.

To Billy: I will do everything I can and everything prepaid legal can do to shut your scam down. I have paid you more than you advertised in your television ad for this auger and drill. It's been over a month and I have not recieved even a letter of explplainaion why I haven't got my order yet after paying for fast delivery. I don't know why you have not been charged with "taking money under false pretense" yet. To law-inforcement: Do your job!!! this is clearly a criminal operation. What is it going to take. I am going to write the FBI to enforce interstate fraud laws. This "company" is clearly fraudulent in it's dealing with honest consumers that do what they suppose to do.

Well, I have fallen into this trap before so I decided to check and was actually looking for stuff on Ripoff Report when finding this site. Great site but sorry that it was too late for everybody that got snapped up in this unawesome scam. I suggest a good way to handle this is by calling your local news station who generally has a consumer affairs person or dept. Same goes for calling your local city hall and find out who deals with scams like this. The BBB is just a reporting group. Consumer fraud is a big no-no especially in this economy and interstate. There are also legal sites where you can get advice from attorneys who donate time, and a good class action is always fodder for big law firms. If anybody saw Erin Brockovich (played by Julia Roberts) the lawyers made more money than the settlement for the people that sued. Not that I mean anything like "shame on them" because they do a lot of work, but a good class action is a magnet and not a deterrent. You have all be "had" and I just got smarter from have been "HAD" in a big way before. Also, if I am not wrong, the infomercial says S&H which would be shipping and P&H is postage and for Mays' sake might have a different connotation. I'm sure Mays has an attorney that has given him some dirty little secret hints. Don't get mad; get even... in a legal way so Mr. Mays is made a public spectacle of. By the time they nail him, he'll have so much to pay back he'll be bankrupt and he'll be on probation doing community service in a city park with his awesome auger for 10 years. He surely deserves it.

Like many of the others I discovered after calling that the product was not as advertised. First, you do not get a live person to talk to only recordings. Second, only then do you discover that all the other items advertised as included in the $19.95 is not so, for each extra item your being charged additional shipping charges which bring the costs around $50.00. I ended up getting the 2 small augers with out the extension bit, for a total cost of $28.90. Also when you call the Customer Service No. You continue to get "all agents are busy with other calls try again later, Goodby".

I called in to order The Awesome Auger with free drill. The instructions for selecting what you wanted was confusing and I accidently pressed to order something when I meant to say no. I've tried for 3 days to call in to find out what I ordered with no response.I've e-mailed as well with no response. I used my debit card and $42.90 was deducted . I thought it would have been $19.95 + $8.95 shipping. I'm afraid that they will debit my card for more and don't know how to stop it now.

We ordered this product after seeing an interesting infomercial. As we got into the ordering process, we discovered that to obtain the drill, it would cost $40.00 to ship. We declined that as we had just received a complete 18V drill, flashlight, skillsaw, and recipacating saw, for less shipping. We did expect to receive the drill bits and the extention. All we got in the box was the two drill bits. And shipping was 8.95. After reading all the problems here, we have decided to keep the bits, heck it would cost us another $9.00 to ship back. That would only net us about $10.00 in return. And that is not counting my gas to drive to the post office. This is a lesson well learned. Do not buy from infomercials. They are a scam.

I ordered this product, stating $19.95. They charged me $231 through ordering online. I made several attempts to stop the order, emails, telephone calls, and they've completely ignored my requests. I have received the product and I've not opened it,and am still attempting to get some of my money back. Any advice? Help.

I ordered awesome auger and tried to cancel but could not reach a person to talk too.So I returned it without opening it.When my credit card statement came in it had a 48.85 charge for awesome auger, which was advertised for 19.95.I called the credit card co. to dispute the charges. In mean time my acct was credited for 19.95.The card co. said the merchant can charge any amount they want for shipping and handleing,so I lost 28.90.I think this is outrageous. Thanks Ursula
