DirectBuy Member + Engagement Rings at Cost = A VERY HAPPY FIANCE' - Thanks DirectBuy for making me look like a STAR.

My husband and I thought about buying a new house but we decided to stay put and redo the kitchen. After seeing the ads of those happy (sometimes annoying couples) on TV talking about their brand spanking new kitchen, we decided to give Direct Buy a shot. I never knew how staggering the mark up on kitchen cabinents really was. The cabinets we really wanted retailed for about $12,000 and we got them at DB for $6,800. just that one purchase paid for our memberships. I keep thinking this is nuts but the savings just keep piling up. Don't be a sucker any more.

After seeing what seemed like 100 commericals for the this Company...I called the 1-800 number and visited a showroom in my hometown. It was NOT what I expected. The showroom I visited was super nice and all but I ended up saying "no thanks". I knew a membership was involved but hello...I was thinking Costco at 50 bucks a year. If I had a need to make some real purchases... I am pretty sure I would have saved some serious $$$...but for me in my rented apt. - no can do! All in all, I am glad I went and the people were nice and all...but it wasn't for me.

Thank heaven we joined direct buy last year... with the stock market going down my membership is more important than ever. We still need to spend on household items over the next 5 years and the savings from buying direct will sure come in handy. We saved enough to justify our membership fee early on - so its all GRAVY from here.

Hi, I have been a member of direct for about a year now. So far we have bough several things there. We are a young couple and when we bought our first house DB offered us a membership. We thought the membership was a little pricy but we figured we could get it back in the savings. I will tell you, I can't tell you anywhere I can go and save that much money. Just in the last two weeks, I bought a siverware set, a whirpool duet washer and dryer, and a whole living room suit and my total savings was 2500.00. I don't think these people are looking at the right items if the stuff was more expensive!! I have never had that problem no matter what I was looking for. Being a young mother of two, who wants to make her house look wonderful for company, and anybody, I completely recommend DB to anybody. Thank you DB for saving me sooooooooooooo much money!!

I've been a member of over a decade and renewed my membership. Over the years I've saved thousands of dollars on expected and unexpected items. I admit I've found prices better on low mark up items like electronics and appliances but after shopping around on big ticket items, I saved a lot of money thst I put to better use.

My expereicne with direct buy has been neutral. I can't say that I love them and I can't say that I hate them. Over the years I have been a member I haved saved when doing big projects. I put in new kitchen cabinets and was able to save a lot on that project. You just need to understand what you are signing up for. You don't want to sign up if you are going to buy a toaster and one set of tires but if you plan to buy many things from them then it can be worth it. Just understand what their program is beofre signing up- I would say that is the important thing.

I became involved with direct buy about a year ago. The membership fee has taken awhile to make it worth it. I am not worried because I plan to break even and then get ahead on the savings. I need to buy more stuff but I don't have any problems find new things that I need. Overall it hasn't been a bad experience and I plan to save in the long run. If you don't buy a lot you aren't going to break even on the membership costs right away, it will take awhile.

I enjoy the savings on the furniture that we have bought through DirectBuy and savings have been amazing. We have just started buying with our DirectBuy but it has been a pleasurable experience!!!!

My husband and I purchased a membership 6 months ago and have already SAVED money!!! We re-did a kitchen and spend $10,000 after being quoted $21,000 at a retailer. After this we bought a gorgeous living room set for $5,000 that went for $7,000 at a competitor's store (we did our homework prior to coming). It's great to know that not only you're saving money-but everything is under warranty and you can deal directly with the manufacturers-no annoying retailers trying to sell you extra warranty you don't even need. I HIGHLY recommend getting a membership!

I have used DirectBuy for almost 9 years and have saved alot of money. I've purchased furniture, carpet, things for my kids and even my husbands wedding band. You have to pay a membership fee.. but who cares - you save it in just a couple of purchases. I would recommend it to anyone buying furniture or remodeling.

My father inlaw has been a member of direct buy since I can remember. His review of the place depends on his mood haha. One day he will tell me I should come with him and check it out and then the next time he talks about it he is just complaing and about them. Overall though it seems that he likes it. I personally haven't ever looked into a membership cause he has one but it doesn't seem like a scam or nothing.

First, if you are planning to remodel, build a house, furnish a house, etc... then it really will save you money in the long run. They can get everything... windows, toilets, bath fixtures, cabinets, etc. Second, we have bought a ton of stuff from our TULSA store. All major brands were represented. We saved $700 on my daughter's bedroom furniture; $600 on our front load washer set; Over $5000 on exercise equipment; $600 on our plasma hutch; $500 on my diamond movado watch, and more. So I personally plan to use this on all of our major purchases. Good luck buying Retail. Cause I sure won't ever again. Anyways... to each his own.

We moved from a 500 sq foot studio to a 3000 sq foot home. Needless to say we needed a lot of stuff. It took some getting used to shopping a little differently but we shortly had the hang of it. Our leather furniture itself saved us our membership fee. The best part is that we don't have to think of where to go for things we need. We just go to DirectBuy and they always know where to lead us for the answers we need on suppliers. We have probably spent close to $10,000 thus far, money we would have spent elsewhere and not have received the same quality. Hidden surprises are the smaller items we got. A ceiling fan $75 less than a large hardware chain, shoes more than half off, and luggage. We are now in the process of working on our kitchen and look forward to saving thousands of dollars more. The staff is like family they are all helpful and really go out of their way to get you what you need. We have been very happy with DirectBuy.

The last time I ordered from direct buy I received a different dishwasher than the one I was expecting. After everything I was able to get the right one and have been happy with it. Just make sure when you are buying through them that you confimr your order so that you get what you actually want. Other than that my membership has been normal.

I love direct buy I have been a member for 7 months now and I have saved incredible amount of money. To some people the membership might be steep but imagine how much your going to be purchasing in the next couple of years... if you understand the concept its a great company!!! I cant wait to remodel my kitchen I will recoupe my membership easily....thanks Direct Buy

One thing I will say about Direct buy is that you have to plan ahead. i was trying to finish my bathrooms in my house and didn't realize how long it can take to get things from the manufacturer. It ended up taking like 8 weeks for my cabinets to come in. when they came in they were what I wanted so I wasn't too pissed. Just make sure that you plan ahead on your projects.

DirectBuy of Rochester rocks!! My husband and I saved thousands on our kitchen! DirectBuy made our dreams come true! The owners and staff are exceptional!!! I'm proud to be part of the DirectBuy of Rochester family.

the customer service is not as good as I was expecting. Sometimes I will have to call a couple of times to get someone to help me. I have been a member for awhile and I would say that is my major complaint. I wish I could get a call back sooner so I can get my answers faster.

we joined DB a few months ago and have realized amazing savings on our remodeling project. our windows were almost 40% less than the lowest estimate elsewhere, the kitchen and bathroom cabinets saved us almost $18,000 over the home depot proposal and $22000 over a local kitchen gallery, the prices on the toilets, bathtubs and sinks we ordered were all much lower than i could find anywhere else. so obviously, i'm happy.

My husband called me crazy when I told him we wanted to go to a direct buy. He had seen the commercials on tv and he thought I was crazy when I told him I made an appointment. We signed up and he has been buying stuff ever since. He has also wanted to do more projects around the house. I am starting to wonder who the crazy one is now hehe.

We have purchased a lot of fine furniture for our home and have saved thousands, as well as appliances and new countertops for our kitchen. We have had our membership for ten years and it was a great decision for us to join DirectBuy Minneapolis!

My husband and I attended a DB meeting tonight in Englewood Colorado and the "manager" was beyond rude. He accused me of saying something that I never said. Then he said we should leave. I think the man was mad. We will let the owner know how rude his manager is.

Do your research before becoming a Direct Buy member. I have been a member for 6 months and I haven't saved enough to make it worth while. The thing about the membership is you need to use it for a lot of different purchases to make it pay for it self. So far I just haven't bought enough. Hopefully when the membership is up I will have bought enough items to make it worth while.

Although we haven't yet visited the new DB showroom in Centerville nor placed an order since the split and DBs move from the Kingsridge location, my husband and I have been satisfied with our past 5 years' experience. We purchased a membership when it was UCC/Total Home and, apparently, when the cost of the membership was considerably less. (I hadn't realized that the price had increased so much.) We recouped our membership fee from the savings of our first 3 purchases...Kohler bath fixtures and GE appliances for a bath, kitchen and laundryroom remodel. All items were first-quality and received on time and undamaged. Actually, a couple of our orders arrived earlier than expected. Since joining, we've purchased everything from major appliances to furniture to ceramic flooring to fine china and crystal. We've even utilized the wedding registry for one of our daughters; family/friends were amazed at the savings compared to the same items at, for example, Macys. I have to agree, though, that the savings depends on the item and whether or not it's stocked (and on sale) at a national chain store...some chain store pricing might be a little better or close enough to Direct Buy's to not make it worth utilizing our membership. Direct Buy isn't for the impatient or spontaneous shopper, and the savings are much greater on higher-end items. You have to plan ahead, do a little leg work, shop around and compare -- and know particulars on what it is you need to order, i.e., serial numbers, style numbers, color identifiers, etc. We, too, also found that customer service in certain areas hasn't always been DB's strong-suit, often due to employee turnover and new staff's unfamiliarity with the products and catalogs. We've had just one bad experience in getting the correct merchandise. When we first joined, we relied on one of their newer agents to help us interpret ordering info in a GE catalog; we received the wrong stove. Management addressed the problem to our satisfaction; we returned the stove to DB and ordered the correct one...no hassle. A frustration in the past has been not being able to get pricing over the phone on items not available on the website...the drive isn't always convenient just to obtain a price and then find it might not be the lowest; however, the website has improved greatly and most pricing is now available at the click of your mouse. A disappointment was a change in their delivery policy...a few years ago they decided to only deliver to your door, making it the member's responsibility to get it inside. Depending on the size and weight of the item, it can create a challenge. I haven't checked to see if that policy is still in effect. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate our satisfaction with our membership at a 4. We plan to remain members. If folks can afford the initial investment and, particularly if they're planning to build, remodel or purchase a vacation home, it's well worth it.
