Dear Hair Club,<br /> I have been a Hair Club member since November,2005. I am at the Hair Center in Charlotte, NC. For the past two systems, the hair has been shedding extremely bad. The shedding has been noticeable by even my work colleagues. I work in a high school as a counselor. Therefore, I am in the public constantly. My appearance is important to my success and self-esteem.<br /> I am on the Gold Program. My satisfaction has not met up to the standards of the Gold Program. The Charlotte Center has said, they are sorry and that there has been another customer with the same problem. I do not feel that I should have to endear this kind of poor quality hair.<br /> I am writing to you to gain satisfaction and help from the poor quality of this product. if you can not help me meet the standards of the Gold Program, I will have to go elsewhere for the proper service. I should not have to pay this kind of money for sub standard hair.<br /> <br />

Hair Club uses deceptive, if not immoral and unethical practices. they play on your fear of hair loss. They use a hard closer to get you to sign a contract. I am going to report it to the BBB, but I am going to guess that if I look at the very, very, very fine print, it tells the full story. all buyers should beware. Don't sign a contract without taking it home and reading the fine print. Don't be like me and get 'sold'. If a product or program is ethcial, they have no problem with you taking home the contract, understanding it, then if you like what you read, signing it. Before you sign anything with hair club, go into the room where the hair club members are - and ask them if they are happy. The consultation is in a room away from where the clients and brochures are (I discovered this after I became a client) that shows you that you are on the hook for the rest of your life - literally. They don't tell you that the original 2600 to $4500 is just the start and that you really don't own your hairpiece and that you need a new one every couple of months and it requires certain upkeep and care they only they can do. What a crock. Now that I have it on my head and I ask questions, they are evasive. My one really big question: When you take the hairpiece off (its glued on with a heavy medical adhesive glue) will my own hair come out. The 'stylist' who is supposed to have all the answers stated 'maybe a little'. I asked if it came out at the roots her answer "I don't know" Personally, I am going to a find save products to take the piece off myself and am going to walk away. They know once you have the hairpiece on you are pretty much hooked.

My mom and I went to the Hair Club in Orange County, California. The informational appt is a lot like going to a timeshare presentation. What you can't get them to say outright is, the initial start up is $2,500 to $3,000 and and additional $2,500 to $3,000 EACH YEAR. We didn't go with this system because the price was so outrageous and they made such an effort to HIDE the true price. It was later on we found customer compliants about their quality.

Having diabetes and being an insulin user, I have very thin hair at the top of my head. Add this to the fact that I am a female, it makes the situation very sad to say the least. I saw the HCM advertisement and they made the models look great, so I decided to go for it. Keep in mind that I have to work very hard to come up with $3k, which is the starting cost (Never mind the additional costs that they don't tell you about). They measured me for my "hair system" (It was supposed to be a perfect fit to my sclp) and I had to come back over a month later to get it on. I figured, it takes that long because they are doing what they told me, finding hair just like mine, same texture with the same growth pattern, and this takes time. HA! What a joke! They came with this piece that had a very kinky perm (why did they ask for a picture of what my hair was like?) The mesh was so big they had to take in 3 seams to make it fit properly. It did not look at all natural once glued to my head. I was very disappointed, but I figured I still had another system coming and I would tell them I did not want that awful perm. Well believe it or not, the second system was worse. Come to find out, they recycle the systems. They repair them and then use them on someone else! That is what I got! It was a scraggly looking recycled piece that had already been cut with bangs and had highlights in it. I just want to cry! They shaved the top of my head and now how do I remove it? I have no hair at the top of my head. I called and spoke to the Manager and she said that only one system is mine, that the rest are loaners. That is what I received for $3k, and that is without counting shampoos, conditioners, glue, strips, combs, and hair brushes that you need to buy in order to do all that you need to do to keep this rats nest on your head. But the cost doesn't end there. Besides the large tips they expect you to leave the stylists, if you want to stay with them, you have to join one of their clubs. Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum, the cheapest starts at $350.00 per month. It is shameful that they prey on men and women that are losing or have lost their hair to illness and the likes, and are desperate for a solution to their problem. They make sure they tell you what you want to hear, but omit very important things such as continuing costs, how the program really works etc. But the biggest scam is the extremely poor quality of the hairpieces they give you, and that their advertised claim of a natural hairline and natural looking hair is false.

I have Alopecia Universalis, and I went to Hair Club to have hair made for me, The wig I received was not all that great in quality, considering the price, but sticking it to my head is a nightmare. I had the hair applied with a "surgical" adhesive. I went to bed that night, tying it up as they told me to. When I got up the next morning, it remained on the pillow. I returned to have it reattached. This time they used a double-faced tape. Within an hour of application, the edges started curling up, and then the whole piece fell off while I was in a store, and had to bend over to pick up something. The tape damaged the inside of the cap, thus damaging the piece. According to the contract, they would replace it free of cost within 30 days. It has been almost six months, and they refuse to correct the situation. They currently have the wig in their possession, and return it to me, or give me a refund, unless I sign a release stating that I will not take any legal action against them, and I only agree to a 50% refund. Fat chance of that.
