I've written before about my Lifestyle Lift horrors. If any of you had this surgery done in NY/NJ area and want to share your own story, please immediately contact Kirstin Cole of CBS News at [] Let's try and warn others.

5/13/2008 – Linda writes: I’m 55 years old and had a Lifestyle lift in September of 2007, for my neck and jowls to be tightened (I didn’t need my eyes doing) and I’m also unhappy with my results. Before the procedure and when I eventually met with Dr.[], he said I would also need liposuction in three areas (under my chin and left and right lower cheeks) and if I just had the procedure that I wouldn’t be happy with the results. I agreed to pay the extra money as I wanted this to be a one time thing and obviously wanted the best results. Dr.[] also said that this procedure would last for over 10-years and as I had really good skin it quite possibly could last for 20-years. On the day of my surgery (with no face makeup and my hair pushed behind my ears) I was asked to pose for some photographs. I was asked to tip my chin down, which obviously makes your jowls and chin look even fuller (so my before surgery photographs look horrible) For the procedure I experienced pretty much the same as everyone else and after the stitches were removed (while still swollen) I looked reasonably good and I made an appointment to see Dr.[], even though I was told that there was no need. In January I arrived early for my appointment ready to show Dr.[] the lumpy area under my chin on my left side, the bump behind my right ear and the jowl lines that were starting to appear again and was kept waiting (as usual) for over 2-hours.They took more photographs while I was waiting and when I eventually met with Dr.[] he spent less than five minutes with me and said that he wouldn’t do another surgery and I should wait as everything would settle. Well its now May and I’ve called and left long messages about my dissatisfaction and still have not received a call back. My neck does look a little less bumpy, but my jowls have come back and I still have a lump behind my ear and I feel that this surgery was a waste of money. Without going into more details (which I have plenty), please contact me if there’s anyone out there that can find someone who will listen, and for those of you who are thinking about Lifestyle List….pay a little extra and go to a reputable plastic surgeon.

Early last year I (and my wife) went for the jowel lift & face smoothing. With pulling of the skin in different areas, I was shown "what it will look like when done." After it was done, my wife & I went back a week later to have the stitches removed. My wife took a day off from work, but the doctor never showed up. We had to return on another day (more time off from work). I had to return another time because they didn't remove all the stitches. I'm not sure that they still didn't get them all out. There is still a large scar under my chin along with a lump in the middle of the scar. Down both sides of my jaw line, just in front of my ears there are VERY noticeable scars that run down around my ears and up the back of them. There have been lumps in them from the beginning and continue to itch. It feels as if there are things under the scars like missed sutures. I was under the assumption that plastic surgery shouldn't leave very noticeable scars. I feel as if I were operated on by butchers. After just over a year, things seem to be back to almost the same as they were prior to the surgery, for both of us. It was a waste of time and money, along with a lot of pain. Along with that, they don't seem to want to know you after you've paid and left after the surgery. Beware of this procedure. Save a little extra money and seek out a "real" plastic surgeon.

I had procedures for my upper eyelids, face and neck done on March 7, 2008. Although I'm OK with the eyelid surgery (some leftover scarring, but OK), I think the rest of the work done was a waste of time, pain and money. When I returned for the follow up visit, I had to wait more than 1 1/2 hours to see the doctor for 5 minutes! It seems the "new" patients get priority over the ones already reeled in. When I asked about the neck not being uplifted, I was told my salivary glands are low, so no change expected. When I asked about the cheeks still drooping, I was told I have a round face so the change will not be noticeable since they don't do "midface lifts." Why was I not told these things before the fact...before spening over $6,000.00, I don't know (but I can guess). However, when I was waiting, there was a woman there with scars and pain after over a year! So, I guess I'm one of the luckier ones. Now, here I am, not really pleased with the results, bumpy flesh behind the still numb ears, but still having to pay off the bill of $6,200.00! NBC, CBS, ABC & FOX all did pieces on LifeStyle Lift. They should now be obliged to do a follow-up on the results, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

I had the procedure and I was unsatisfied with my results. I paid 6,000 dollars and it was a complete rip off. I do not recommend it

5/6/2008 - Bill writes:
The procedure you get with lifestyle lift is less than a mini facelift. The results usually last one year or less. Although it is done under local, you can still have problems. For less than double the cost you could go to a real plastic surgeon and have a real face lift which will last 608 years.

I had the lifelift in Feb. 2008, in Los Angeles. I wish I had searched the internet before getting this horrible procedure. I just wanted my jowls done, but the doctor recommended my neck also. My jowls were improved slightly, my neck is more wrinkled than it ever was. I went through a lot of pain. I did see the doctor two months after, because I was so depressed and worried about the way my neck looked and the pain. He said "oh dont worry it will all smooth out in a few months. Its been three months and its looking worse than before. How is it possilbe that they continue to hurt people this way, and get away with it. Can someone please help us.

My story is pretty much the same as most of the others. I had watched all the many Infomercials, before deciding to go ahead & make the appointment. I am 69 yrs old and always looked younger than my age. I did see some drooping around my neck. and lines around my mouth. I asked them if my skin was still elastic enough, was I too old for this to get a good result. Their answer was "you will have a great result" In fact you don't need your eyes done! I had the surgery done August 2007 In Tampa FL I had Lifestyle Lift, Liposuction on my neck and tightening of neck muscle. cost $6000.00. Surgery was not really painful.Took about 45 mins. Came out bound up like everyone else. Normal amount of pain. Understandable. Next day was my only bad day.Terrible throwing-up all day into night. reached Doctor after many calls. He phoned prescription to drug store $100.00 cost to me. .. I loved the I felt happy I looked great. Problem is, 5 months later I can see that the lines around my face are coming back and my neck is getting loose. I was told it would last TEN years. at this rate it won't last one year.I did call them and they gave me an appointment to see the surgeon. They took some more photo's . He compared them to the before pictures and started talking about having some facials done. In his new building down town. He has left the Lifestyle Folks and has gone out on his own. He said for me to give it some more time and to come to his new business and maybe have a touch-up done.I asked if I would have to pay again! answer " we could work with you on that. Meaning, YES! I would have to pay again. I don't think so. It is not worth it. $6000.00 is a lot of money to us.

My name is Joyce and I wish I would have searched the internet on Lifestyle Life before I had mine in Feb. 2008. It is true that the results are minimal at least for me they were. Like someone else said, every week my face proceeds to return to the way it was before the lift. I don't know where they are getting their pictures in the magazines, but I have not see these types of results. I had the same experience after my followup appointment with the doctor, its done over, I didn't feel she even wanted to give me the time to answer my questions regarding a re-do. She said she had another patient waiting and had to go. I too don't know what to do. I paid $6,000 for nothing and I think my neck looks worse than it did before I had the surgery.

I, like many others, fell for the commercials and thiught what a great deal. First of all, the waiting room was like Grand Central Station. There were about 30 people waiting to go in. Some were waiting over 2 hours. Then it was getting late, so they were taking 2 or 3 people in for their consults together. It was embarrassing listening to other peole's medical history and very unprofessional. Okay, I figured it's such a good deal, I can withstand the cattle call. so, I made an appt. When I finally met the doctor, he was very nice and he did do a good job. I had no pain during the procedure. Unfortunately, I lost my hearing in my right ear. I called and they said it was just some swelling and would eventually go down. Well, it has been 6 months now, and I still can't hear out of my right ear. I called and called and none of my calls have been returned. My heart goes out to all those who have had their faces botched up by this procedure. The problem is my face looks okay, I have minimal scarring, but I can't hear! My next step is to get the media involved. I'll keep you posted.

Having worked for this company for over 2 years I have some insight into how they operate. Number 1 it is sales generated, the only concern this company has is that they get 30 procedures done each week in each office. They have Regional Directors who swoop down into each office and sit on top of the scheduler and the office manager to make that happen come hell or high water. They berate the office managers weekly on nationwide phone calls if the numbers are not where they should be. The Doctors are "freelance" so they have zero allegience to Lifestyle Lift and are forever coming and going. The only person who is going to give you any real care is the Surgical Techs. They are authorized to even remove your stitches. If you are overweight, smoke and have no real chin do not even bother to go in for this procedure it will not work. The surgeon is basically lifting up your skin around your ear and pulling that muscle back about a quarter of an inch. Then sewing you back up the scar goes completely around your ear. If you are Black do not get this operation as you will get severe scarring, Keloids. You need to have longish hair in order to hide the scars that run around your ear. After 6 months Lifestyle Lift does not want to hear from you anymore. They do not do redo's and unless you cry that your going to call the media they will not call you back. Dr. Kent is not even a true Doctor in the sense read his degrees. The consultants are just sales people in white coats and are told to SELL EVERYONE THAT WALKS IN THAT DOOR. The lift lasts about a year at best if you have the right genetics, again being thin, white and with a good prominent chin. Other wise you will be disappointed. For Five Thousand dollars you get what you pay for. This place is set up like a factory, if you go just sit and watch you will understand, the other thing is that it is all about getting your Money and whether they do it through financing (Care Credit) or your own credit card or check, they will get it and keep it. I did okay with them money wise but it got to the point that they were just down right horrible with the patients and the Doctors were forever running scared and making the office managers do the dirty work. Best of Luck to you all

Be very careful with the payment plan...you will pay interest/finance charge..you will have scars on the bottom of your ears (large ones). and yes its a lot of hipe. I feel riped off.I need to go in to remove the large scars. They are nice when your going in...Treat you like crap after.. your just money to them and after your a thorn...

I had a Life Style Lift done the beginning of May-2005 in Little Falls, NJ. Like everyone else, I was taken in by the infomercial. When I went for my appointment, I told them I was having my 45th high school class reunion the end of May/2005. Normally I would have had to come back to have a consultation with the doctor, but because of the reunion, she said I could see the doctor if I waited until he was available. After meeting with the doctor and getting the same BS that everyone else has posted on the web site, I decided to set up an appointment for the surgery. They also gave me a line about giving me a discount because of a Mother's day special. My daughter accompanied me the day of the surgery. I told her it would only be an hour. Everyone in the office told me I had a great doctor doing my surgery. Like everyone else I had many shots of novacaine to numb me. All the while the doctor and technician talked about their personal lives. The surgery ended up being more like 2 hours and like everyone else they had me leave by a back door. I had to drive an hour and a half home. When we got home and stopped at the drugstore to fill the prescription, my daughter had to go in because my face started swelling and I felt like I was hit by a mack truck. I would not go out of the house for at least a week and even afterward, I still had swelling and bruising. I was in a panic because my reunion was coming up and I still had bruising a week before. I searched the Internet and found something I could take for the bruising (which you're really supposed to take before the operation)but I was desparate and tried anything. I don't think I looked any different for my reunion. None of my friends and family ever said I looked better than I had before I had the LSL. I mainly had it done for my jowls. They may have looked slightly better when I had the surgery, but about a month later, it looked like I had nothing done. I notice that the creases near my mouth and puppet lines are more noticeable than before I had the surgery. Also, I still have some numbness along the sides of my face near my ears and a few little bumps under my skin. They told me this would be gone in 6 months and here it is almost 3 years later and I still have some numbness. I guess I did have one of the better doctors because I have minimal scarring and my ears still look pretty normal. I wish I would have seen this web site before I wasted my money. I think this company should be put out of business and a class action suit be brought against them. Please contact me at [] or call me at [] if this happens.

Last April 2007 I had the life style lift with lipo. I was looking forward to my daughter's wedding. I have waited a year and I still have bruised cheeks. My skin is marbled and hard. I had to grow my hair longer to cover the sides of my face. I am so embarrased. People ask me, "Who hit me in the face?". I was so excited for this proceedure and I hoped that it would make me feel great. My face has daily burning and pain. I would of never had this proceedure done if I knew that this was the result. I feel so ugly now. []

I received my Life Style Lift in December 2007. I was very excited about getting the procedure done. I looked forward to looking at least ten years younger liked they promised in all the hype that they fed me. I feel really stupid now for being duped into it. When I went back after the first week to have the stitches removed I looked great. I was so happy I was always looking in the mirror; I couldn't believe how young I looked. I went back to work about twelve days later and all my customers and co-workers couldn't believe how great I looked. Then after all the swelling went down, people stopped saying anything. In fact one of my co-workers said I looked like my face was starting to melt. At first I thought they were just a little jealous. I am a hairstylist and work in the hair replacement business. I work all day long in fluorescent lighting. Each day that goes by now I can see everything getting slowly worse. After all the pain I went through and the smell of burning flesh and the pixie ears and just about everything I've read about on the other letters of complaints that I have just read I am so terribly unhappy I could just scream. I spent money I had saved and took a loan out for the rest. It cost me $6000.00 for the procedures I had done. When I went back for my four week checkup I complained to the doctor about how the lines around my mouth were coming back. They showed me the before and after pictures and practically laughed in my face. The doctor told me I had unrealistic expectations about how I was going to look. He told me I looked perfectly fine and kept referring to the before pictures. He seemed very insulted because I was saying bad things about his work on my face. He just dismissed me as a stupid woman who expected too much. I walked out of ther feeling stupid and trying to tell myself that all the money I just spent was not in vain. Well needless to say I am very disturbed about how I look and would desperately want to do anything I can to get my money back. I can’t think about anything else. I feel so foolish about going to that place. I want to go to another doctor, but I can't afford it. I would love to be a part of a class action suit against these butchers. Please let me know if anyone out there can help all of us who were persuaded by the seedy tactics they used to prey on our hopes and dreams of looking more youthful. My heart is broken but not my spirit. I will do anything I can to see this rectified. My heart is with all of you who wrote on this webpage I hope we can do something about this. We were trying to do something special for ourselves, not just simply for vanity but for a lot of reasons. Has anyone tried suing them on your own and if so have you had any success? He told me I looked perfectly fine and kept referring to the before pictures. He was angry because he said I insulted his work and proceeded to tell me that what I had done was a mini-lift and it does not take away the folds around the nose and mouth. WRONG! THAT IS NOT WHAT THEY TOLD ME WHEN I WENT FOR THE INTERVIEW!

Don't waste your money, because it does not work!!!!!!!!!!!! I had this done in San Diego June 2007. They also promised me I would look 10 years younger. That is not the case at all. I look the same, still have the jawls. When I went in to have the procedure, it was bad. They took me in the room, had me sit in an upright chair, gave me two pills, waited only 10 minutes and started freezing my face. I thought I was going to pass out from the pain of all those needles. I asked the dr.if it was normal and he said yes. He started to cut on my face and I could hear the skin being cut off, with a cracking sound in my ear. Then could feel him pulling on my face. I would never refer these people to anyone. The doctor never talked to me at all. ALL of you who want to do don't does not work!

I had this procedure at the Phoenix office on August 24, 2007 by Dr Duane Martin. The results have been minimal; the pain during the procedure was incredible, they did not wait for the shot to take effect prior to starting the lidocaine shots. My face looked like a pumpkin after the procedure for about a month. The bruising ws severe with my face and neck turning as purple as an eggplant. I have nerve damage on one side of my face which I fear is permanent. The aftercare is non existent--they will remove the stitches (or rather a tech will) but you never see the doc again. I removed my own stitches as I am a veterinarian. I had infections on and off for over a month (the doc prescribed an antibiotic which I am allergic to so I self prescribed some zithromax and only then did the infection clear up. I had bouts of cellulitis for over two months, these too have finally abated. Like I said previously, the aftercare is dismal--the office manager called me and said things would get better which they have to a limited degree. The doc is an eye, ear nose and throat guy not a plastic surgeon. I would like to see a class action suit against this extremely dishonest company. Your money is better spent on a 'real' plastic surgeon.

My name is Mary, I'm from []. I had the lifestyle lift back in Dec. of 2008. They promised me I would look 10 years younger. That is not the case at all. I look the same, still have the jawls and the neck is still wrinkled. When I went in to have the procedure, it was bad. They took me in the room, had me sit in an upright chair, gave me two pills, waited only 10 minutes and started freezing my face. I thought I was going to pass out from the pain of all those needles. My body started jerking and I thought I was going into shock. I remember the doctor laughing. You'll be fine. Then I asked him if it was normal and he said yes. I asked him if maybe he should have waited a half hour to 45 minutes before starting the procedure so the medication can start working, he wouldn't answer me. When I told him that I felt like passing out he just kept working. He started to cut on my face and I could hear the skin being cut off, with a cracking sound in my ear. Then could feel him pulling on my face. I don't remember him working on the left side of my face at all. The procedure was $4000 and now I have to pay someone else to fix my face the right way. I have seen another doctor and he did tell me, "The other doctor should have waited at least 45 minutes after the medication was given". I couldn't believe all the pain that I had to go through. I still haven't received my after pictures. They sent my before pictures as after pictures. In my before pictures, I had my hair up and my after pictures I wore my hair down. I would never refer these people to anyone. The doctor never talked to me at all. When I went in to get my after pictures taken, she asked me if I wanted to talk to the doctor about anything. He walked into the room and stood up for the whole conversation and laughing at my concerns about not being able to notice a difference. This doctor is like, pick a number and we'll just run you right through. He is just in it for the money and doesn't have any bedside manner at all.

I was done in Santa Ana in Jan of 2007. The procedure is nothing like they tell you up front. During my procedure the doctor and his assistant talked about women and cars. I felt like I was not enen in the room. That was very unprofessional. I was not deadend enough and he kept cutting me and hurting me. I had draping on the side of my face for months. Everyone wanted to know what had happened to me. I called several times after the surgury concerned about the draping. Never got a call back from any doctor. After getting very nasty on the I was given an appointment to come back. Waited in their office for three hours to see the doctor. He breezed in and out so fast I hardly got to talk to him. After one year my neck is back to the way it was when I had it done. Would not recommnend this procedure at all.
