Bought one after seeing the TV commercial as I like to watch TV while my husband reads. Was under the impression I could have the TV on very low and not disturb him, as the infomercial says. As others have stated, it amplifies everything BUT the TV. In fact, my husband had it on to try and could hear me going to the BR, a hall and a room away, louder than the TV which was in the same room as him! I am glad I did not sneeze while I had it on. Also, while handing it to him, we got a terrible squeal, and have no idea what caused that! This company should be stopped and fined for false advertising.

What a scam. I purchased 2 of these worthless products. They are nothing but a noise amplifier and you can't not distinguish certain sounds as advertised. I bought them after watching an ad from the fair and balanced news network. I recently wrote the network and asked them if fair and balanced apply to their advertising techniques. Still waiting to hear from them.

I ordered this product and only $21.98 was to be charged on my credit card account - after reading all the negative comments about this product - I had serious doubts and decided to cancel my order (that was place less than 24 hours ago). When I telephoned my credit card company - I was told that a charge of $37.96 was made for this product! How outrageous! I complained to the Listen Up company and they said I ordered the deluxe model - I told them I did not and I complained about how disreputable they are for altering the purchase price.

I bought two Listen Up Personal Sound Amplifiers for my mother and sister. After taking one out of the package, I tried it out. The sound was amplified very little. It was, however, distorted. The amplification was not enough to be worthwhile. The packages have the words "advertised on TV" but I bought the amplifiers at a reputable drug store, so I believe that I will be able to return them.

I bought two, they both worked but not very well. I was charged over $100 Which obviously was over $75 more than advertised. I will never buy another television advertised product by 800 number.

I again fell for another worthless device. I bought it for my mom so she doesn't have to have the t.v. so loud. If you stay perfectly still it works, but if you move or any other noise is around you it blast your ears. It's another rip-off.

Just like all the others, they charged my credit card before I placed the order. I changed my mind when I saw the shipping charges which are outrageous. I did not finalize the order, but as others have said, it was too late & my credit card was charged. I called the company & of course they said I placed the order, too bad. I called my credit card co. & have to wait a couple of days for the status to change from "pending" to charged, so will need to call the credit card co. again. The sad thing is I actually saw this product at some elderly friends' house & they love it - unlike what others report, it did work well for them. I just don't want to pay their outrageous shipping & I don't like to be dealing with deceptive companies.

I went to www.listenup.com yesterday and went through the steps to order one. They kept attempting to sell upgrades and additional listen up's to my order of which I declined all of them. When I finally got to the final process and saw the heavy shipping charge, I changed my mind about going through with the order and did not press the finalize button. After trying to press the cancel button which did nothing, I closed my browser down. This scam of a company went through with the order anyway. I did not receive a confirmation email until this morning. I called my credit card company to report this charge as a fraud and they can't do anything until it is 'posted'. I then called the number on the website where I was going to order and a man answered and hung up on my soon as he realized it was about 'listen up'. This happened twice. I then dug up the official web site of this company and called them. They not only had my info, charged my account, but had shipped it as well! Amazing, I never authorized the order, they knew nothing of the website I ordered it at, but they had my money and had already shipped it. Even their web site says to allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. Like othere's have written, when you don't want it, it's shipped already. SCAM SCAM SCAM! I will file with both the BBB and the Attorney General. Probably should change my charge card number as well as this company cannot be trusted at all!

I ordered this product back in April, 2007 and realized after receiving the product that it was junk. The sound is terrible and it doesn’t function as they advertise it on TV. Better yet it was like hell to return the product. BE AWARE THAT THEY WILL MAKE YOU PAY FOR SHIPPING IT BACK TO THEM AND WILL NOT REFUND ANY OF THE SHIPPING CHARGES. Basically, once you order the product, it will not be economically feasible to return it.

I ordered the Listen Up over the internet. I noticed that there was a lot of suggestive selling going on and was careful to not order two. I did agree to a 9.99 "upgrade" to the deluxe model and received my confirmation email saying that I had purchased a Listen Up for 14.99 and a Deluxe Listen Up Upgrade for 9.99. With 10.98 shipping and handling the order came to 35.96. A week later I get an email saying the order has shipped and my credit card has been billed 50.95. It seems that they decided to add another Listen Up to my order without my permission. When I called "customer service" and told them of their error, I was told that I ordered two Listen -Ups. When I informed the "gentleman" Genaro that I had an email proving that I only ordered one device, I was informed that that really didn't matter because the order was already shipped out. I was told that I could return the extra product for a refund but would only be refunded the cost of the item. In otherwords, when all was said and done I would realize a 5.00 refund on a 14.99 product. Genaro was very rude and it became quickly apparent that there would be no service from this "customer service rep". I had the feeling that they were used to bullying customers and from what I read here, I was right. I called the credit card company and was told that I could put in a claim for the fraudulent charge but should try returning the item first. I will do that, but to tell the truth, after the phone conversation I just had with Genaro, I will be very surprised if I ever see a refund on my charge card. Live and learn.

Absolutely right, you get two devices at double the rate (2 * item + 2 * shipping) even tho' u order one. Full crap, just an omni-directional amplifier mike that picks every damn thing - could make you deaf fast!! am sure its an extremely lucrative scam! I will go strongly for getting BBB to force the ads off the airwaves. Sriram

A friend of my wife's saw the informercial and suggested that my wife buy a Listen-Up for her mother who won't use her hearing aids. While ordering, my wife was subjected to all kinds of high pressure tactics and so made it very clear that all she wanted was one of the devices not two and none of the suggested accessories. Of course, they sent two and when she called, Listen-Up they said the could return one but would have to pay shipping and restocking - SCAM!
My father bought this product and is completely unhappy. We are always telling him to turn the tv down, because his hearing isn't as good as it used to be he turns it way up. Well, he bought this thinking it would help. He said all it does is amplify all the sounds around him and he can't hear the tv unless he sits up close to it. He feels like if he has to sit that close for the Sound Amplifier to work, why bother? I agree, what a rip off!

I tried it also. Aside from hearing all the background noise I got tons of squeeling feedback. Surprised I don't see that comment anywhere on this forum. I felt as if I kept using it, it would cause a hearing impairment.

I agree with all the comments and wish this board had been out sooner. The website is rigged so you have to buy two at a time. I never received any confirmation email, so I ended up ordering a second time. I couldn't cancel the second order because by the time I received the first order, my second was already shipped. I guess they really can speed up the shipping process when you reorder by mistake. They said that any returns could not be refunded without paperwork, but I never received any paperwork with my devices, so how can I return it with the shipment. The one unit had no volume and the rest of the units make too much noise when touched. I am very upset with this company and hope someone will close them down soon. I can't do anything through the Credit Card company because I used a debit card. All I wanted was to find something to help my mom hear better, because her ears are too sensitive for a hearing aid.

SCAM SCAM SCAM. I ordered one and they said I ordered two. I called to cancel the order and he told me to call back tomorrow as it takes 24-48hrs to show up ion the computer. I called at 9am (approx. 20 hrs later) and they told me it was already shipped. When I phoned I caught "Gabby" the phone receptionist in a couple lies. I phoned the credit card company to cancel my order but they said they can't really do very much. Well I guess they won for now. Well the only positive thing about this situation is I learned a valuable lesson and that is to always research before you buy. In summation I'm $50 poorer but a whole lot smarter.
