I ordered the Listen up device through a mail order catalog. My hearing is perfect but I listen to the TV late and do not want to disturb my husband. There was nothing but static and when that was gone I heard a faint sound of the TV that sounded like it was in a tin can. The only thing this little piece of crap amplified was my husband's snoring. It made a static sound everytime I moved and it rubbed against the sheets. Thankfully the company is refunding me and sending an envelope to return it. It looked great on the commercials, but in practical situations it is a failure. Since it is made in China by a GBI company, not much I can do, but a class action suit is ripe for the picking if there ia an attorney who has time and the bravery to fight for us. Perhaos we shoudl boycott stations that advertise these commercials, that may wake them up. In the end, cessation of the manufacturing of this product needs to be done, now, not soon, but NOW!

Thank you for all those who reported their experiences on this product. You have all done a great service to would-be purchasers like us! I was going to get this for my Dad but thought of checking the responses from existing users. Thank you so much! Suresh

I bought this product after seeing the ad on TV and was terribly disappointed. I purchased it so that I would be able to hear the TV set without disturbing my husband, but the device was not able to pick up any TV sounds whatsoever. Instead, there was a lot of static, and it picked up other background noise but not the TV! I did call the company back and they say they will refund the amount I paid, less shipping cost.

So, I saw the ad on TV and thought it looked cool. I didn't need it for anything, but I thought it would be a nifty thing to have. I called the number on the commercial, listened to a bunch different questions that were all automated, it asked for my credit card #, and I punched it in. It proceeded to ask me a ton more questions, and then I just got sick of listening and hung up. It didn't give me confirmation I was ordering the product or anything, so I just forgot about it. I got a charge from them the next day on my bank statement, and the product came a week later! I didn't even want it. I tried it, thinking I might just keep the stupid thing since I paid for it, but it totally didn't work at all! It was just, basically, a cheap piece of plastic and a pair of headphones. I packed it up and sent it back, and I was refunded, but the whole thing was ridiculous.

Bought one after seeing the TV commercial as I like to watch TV while my husband reads. Was under the impression I could have the TV on very low and not disturb him, as the infomercial says. As others have stated, it amplifies everything BUT the TV. In fact, my husband had it on to try and could hear me going to the BR, a hall and a room away, louder than the TV which was in the same room as him! I am glad I did not sneeze while I had it on. Also, while handing it to him, we got a terrible squeal, and have no idea what caused that! This company should be stopped and fined for false advertising.

What a scam. I purchased 2 of these worthless products. They are nothing but a noise amplifier and you can't not distinguish certain sounds as advertised. I bought them after watching an ad from the fair and balanced news network. I recently wrote the network and asked them if fair and balanced apply to their advertising techniques. Still waiting to hear from them.

I ordered this product and only $21.98 was to be charged on my credit card account - after reading all the negative comments about this product - I had serious doubts and decided to cancel my order (that was place less than 24 hours ago). When I telephoned my credit card company - I was told that a charge of $37.96 was made for this product! How outrageous! I complained to the Listen Up company and they said I ordered the deluxe model - I told them I did not and I complained about how disreputable they are for altering the purchase price.

i purchased this product (2) what a joke. not only are the impossible to use.they are worthless ( probably takes pennies to make) very poor quality.got my money back less the shipping. guess thats where the make the money on.

I bought two Listen Up Personal Sound Amplifiers for my mother and sister. After taking one out of the package, I tried it out. The sound was amplified very little. It was, however, distorted. The amplification was not enough to be worthwhile. The packages have the words "advertised on TV" but I bought the amplifiers at a reputable drug store, so I believe that I will be able to return them.

I bought two, they both worked but not very well. I was charged over $100 Which obviously was over $75 more than advertised. I will never buy another television advertised product by 800 number.

I again fell for another worthless device. I bought it for my mom so she doesn't have to have the t.v. so loud. If you stay perfectly still it works, but if you move or any other noise is around you it blast your ears. It's another rip-off.

Just like all the others, they charged my credit card before I placed the order. I changed my mind when I saw the shipping charges which are outrageous. I did not finalize the order, but as others have said, it was too late & my credit card was charged. I called the company & of course they said I placed the order, too bad. I called my credit card co. & have to wait a couple of days for the status to change from "pending" to charged, so will need to call the credit card co. again. The sad thing is I actually saw this product at some elderly friends' house & they love it - unlike what others report, it did work well for them. I just don't want to pay their outrageous shipping & I don't like to be dealing with deceptive companies.

I went to www.listenup.com yesterday and went through the steps to order one. They kept attempting to sell upgrades and additional listen up's to my order of which I declined all of them. When I finally got to the final process and saw the heavy shipping charge, I changed my mind about going through with the order and did not press the finalize button. After trying to press the cancel button which did nothing, I closed my browser down. This scam of a company went through with the order anyway. I did not receive a confirmation email until this morning. I called my credit card company to report this charge as a fraud and they can't do anything until it is 'posted'. I then called the number on the website where I was going to order and a man answered and hung up on my soon as he realized it was about 'listen up'. This happened twice. I then dug up the official web site of this company and called them. They not only had my info, charged my account, but had shipped it as well! Amazing, I never authorized the order, they knew nothing of the website I ordered it at, but they had my money and had already shipped it. Even their web site says to allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. Like othere's have written, when you don't want it, it's shipped already. SCAM SCAM SCAM! I will file with both the BBB and the Attorney General. Probably should change my charge card number as well as this company cannot be trusted at all!

I ordered this product back in April, 2007 and realized after receiving the product that it was junk. The sound is terrible and it doesn’t function as they advertise it on TV. Better yet it was like hell to return the product. BE AWARE THAT THEY WILL MAKE YOU PAY FOR SHIPPING IT BACK TO THEM AND WILL NOT REFUND ANY OF THE SHIPPING CHARGES. Basically, once you order the product, it will not be economically feasible to return it.
