I order ProActiv one night during a bout with insomnia. Mistake! When the product arrived it was much smaller than I had thought it would be from the bottles they show on TV. Then when I used it the first time it made my skin feel a little itchy so I did what the instructions said and only used it once a day. Nothing happened. My mild acne never cleared up, and i started having dry peeling skin on my nose. So, unimpressed I called to make sure they wouldn't be sending me any more of their products. No problem the CSR said. A month later I received a package with more product, full sized this time and a bill... I called to tell them that I had canceled and was told they would send a return shipping label I never got, then a week later I started getting reminders that the bill was due. Once again I called customer service. I was told what address to ship the product back to and that they would clear everything up. A month later I got a collection letter from SKO Brenner, a week after that the harrassing phone calls began. I still haven't paid them for something I didn't use, and never wanted. It's been a year and they still send me a collection notice once a month. The product isn't great and the company is a Scam.

I have used Proactive that was purchased by my aunt. My aunt loves it, and I used it knowing full-well what the consequence was going to be. Call me a masochist... The commercial claims it's safe and gentle in contrast to those "harsh creams" used as "spot treatments." This is down-right false. The lotion and cleanser both have Benzoyl Peroxide in them. That's what make those creams "harsh." The chemical itself is extremely irritating and a powerful bleaching agent. Its purpose in acne treatment is to essentially burn the skin off you so that you have new skin quicker. If you have very sensitive skin, I'm sure you know this, as you have most likely had the red rash explosion that feels like someone dunked your head into a vat of acid. If you don't normally have sensitive skin. They may have been a new experience for you that came about from using TWO products contain this on a daily basis. Before you invest in this program, do youself a favor and go to the drug store and buy something with Benzoyl Peroxide in it (it shouldn't be hard to find something in the acne aisle). Test it on an inconspicuous site of sensitive skin (inner thigh, stomach). If it turns red and itches, Proactiv is really not right for you.

Ok I fell for this one also. I don't have acne very bad, maybe I get a pimple every now and again. I tried the product because the testimonials said some people said it improved the actual look of their skin which I wanted. Man!! the first couple of times I tried it I thought something was wrong because my skin was on fire! I read someone in the information they sent that it happens sometimes, well after a couple of weeks of burning, stinging, and or itching I stopped using the everything but the cleanser and moisterizer. The irritations stopped but my skin was a mess. I got pimples like every 2 days when I usually get one everything 6 mos!! My skin was so dry lotion didn't help, I looked like I had dry snot in patches on my face and red splotches on the sides on my nose! Something is wrong with this stuff!! I had no problem cancelling though. I emailed them and said please discontinue and I received an email telling me my account was closed. I doubled checked by trying to log onto the website and it was canceled with no further incidents. My friend was not so lucky, she ordered a cleanser from them and they reactivated her old account she hadn't hade for 2 years with them and charged her $80, she also emailed them and got a cancellation email back, she did recieve a refund upon returning the merchandise.

Well, I was born with Eczema and it was never all that bad. I'm 26 now and I think I only had a huge problem with it when I was about 14-15. I saw a dermatologist and used mild cremes soaps and detergents to keep me from having any uncomfortable reactions. I always use moisturizers on my skin and noticed a couple years ago that my the skin on my face was not all one texture, and oil balanced. some places would get really dry and others really oily. I would break out somewhat when Stressed out on my forhear and Jawline. I thought that proactive might help just bring my skin together and look smoother and healthier. Welp I have been using it for 3 months and am really upset. The last time I used it was this morning and now after reading the complaints (I totaly agree with) I am going to STOP!! I began using the products and already thought that the lotion was drying me out some & I didn't really feel like it was working yet. I woke up last Friday with inflamed skin and some pimples that were the puffy ones. by Sunday my whole forhead was covered in pimples & my cheecks, my skin is so dry and uncomfortable. I was better off before Totally! I never in my life have ever looked like this, not even on my worse day. Please be very careful if you decide to try the products. Follow your gut instincts. If it feels strange STOP. Don't wait like me. I don't know how I'm going to fix this now or how long it will even take :(

I bought the product Proactive about a month ago. I used it once and my face was severely burned by the product. When I retuned to the vendor to get my money back they told me it would take four weeks. It looked like I had beeen in a fight and didn;t win. I had what appeared to be two black eyes, bruised cheeks and peeling skin. i'm seeking legal action. I was given a bogus number for Corporate.

In 2002, I was suffering from a mild to moderate case of acne and decided to try ProActiv when I saw the infomercial. I didn't use it for the first couple of weeks because I was afraid that it would irritate my skin, but one day decided to start using it so I wouldn't waste my money. I used it one Friday night and I immediately felt a burning sensation, like someone had poured hot, steaming acid on my face and I stopped using it after that. I returned the product and got my money back, so there were no problems on that front. Oddly, the ProActiv mask that came with the kit for free was the only thing that didn't make my face burn. I've been using it as a spot treatment for five years now and it has never irritated me like the other stuff did.

I...look...like...I've... just been... in... a...boxing... brawl... and... everybody...had...boxing...gloves...but...me!!!!! Proactive seemed to work after about 2 weeks worth of use. However I noticed my face becoming drier and flakier after 3 weeks. I continued to use it, just not everyday. But then my face started experiencing burning and swelling. At first I blamed the swelling on something in the air that I could be allergic to. But I didn't know what it was. I thought it was something at work. So I took off from work and also didn't use proactive for about 2 weeks. Low and behold during the 2 weeks that I didn't use Proacitve, I noticed that my face wasn't swelling and burning anymore. I figured, ok, it's something at work that Im allergic to. So I started using Proactive and the swelling surprinsingly returned. I talked to other people at work and told them that I use proactive, just in a casual conversation. 1 of my co-workers said, I'll bet it's Proactive that you're allergic to, because she had a similar reaction. "What!!!" I couldn't believe it!! So I decided not to use it for another 2-3 weeks and everything went fine with my face, since I wasn't using it. Just recently I decided that I needed confirmation that it was Proactive that was causing me to look like Mike Tyson was beating up on me. So stupid me... I used it this past Sunday Morning. From Sunday until, today, Thursday, my eyes have been extremely swollen. My eyelids are so heavy. I mean they are sooooooo Puffy. I have red itchy patches on my face. My skin is extremely dry, I have to put lotion on my face every 30 minutes to just stop the burning and itching. When I smile, I look like Im 80 years old. The lines around my eyes are scary. Im only 36. Before using this product people would tell me I looked 26 yrs old. There are literally small scrapes on my face and around my eyes. They look like chemical burns. I have been putting ice on my eyes to try to keep the swelling down. No luck! I decided to take off of work today, because I'm going to the emergency room. I decided before I go to the hospital to search online to find if anyone else has experienced what I've experienced with proactive and Low and Behold I found several people. I was shocked and became pissed when I read people's stories that were so identical to mine. My boyfriend will be escorting me to the hospital today. By looking at me they'll probably think I'm a victim of domestic violence. Wish me luck!

I bought Proactiv Solution a few years ago. The product did nothing to help my acne, but I suppose it might help some people with a different type or something. The complaint I have is with their customer service. First, they make you join a "club" so it comes every two months. Well, I wasn't nearly finished with the first supply after the two month period, so when I got the second supply, I cancelled my membership. Even though I hadn't really wanted the second shipment I paid for it with a personal check. They hassled me for about a year and sent my account to a collection agency even though I sent them copies of the cancelled check over and over. It was only when I threatened to get a lawyer involved that their collection agency stopped harassing me. They pursued me for a year and spent money on a collection agency for a lousy $40 WHICH I ALREADY HAD PAID THEM and showed proof many times. Then they were threatening my credit with Guthy Renker. If I see anything made by Guthy Renker I run in the other direction. Don't get involved with this disreputable product and company.

Well, just like most of them I tried this thinking it will help my acne. As I use ProActiv and then Bare Minerals...which now I wish I sticked with. Well, back using again. I bought this product and thought the best. Well, the makeup was really greasy and I had to blot my face. By day two my t-zone looked as though it was a war zone. Still recovering....sending this back asap tomorrow!!! I broke out everywhere on my face. The kind that hurt too! Just didn't work as they stated. I will attempt cutomer service. If you had alot of oil secretion from your glands do not buy this product it will get worse. Going in tomorrow for a microdermabrasion to clear me up and stick with proactiv.

Bought this product for my teenage son who had bad acne. It seemed to work and they continued to bill my credit card company. Got to the point I didn't even bother to open their monthly statements. Well, during the month of December I decided to open one since I realized I wasn't receiving the product. The notice said that I haven't paid for the product so they stopped shipping. How they can state that when the charge clearly showed on my credit card, I have no clue. They said if I didn't pay by a certain date they would send my account to a collection agency, so I paid thru my checking account. I received threatening letters from a collection agency and even though I sent letters and called, they ignored me and I kept receiving these letters from the collection agency for 6 months. All of a sudden the letters stopped coming, I still don't know why. Do NOT buy from their website!!!! SCAM artist. Make sure you check your shipments against your credit card statements. I made a HUGE mistake by not doing this and now I have no clue if I got what I paid for. Be careful of those places that send you products monthly and charge your card continuously until you cancel. By the comments I read hear cancelling can be pure HELL. If you don't keep track of what you received against what you paid for you could be getting thoroughly RIPPED OFF!

I started using Proactiv in June 2005 to treat my mild acne. Over the next several months of using Proactiv, I suffered severe outbreaks of skin lesions that I had never experienced before using the product. When inquiring about these severe outbreaks, Guthy-Renker’s unlicensed medical support representatives "consistently" advised me to continue using Proactiv, "You're just experiencing the 'normal' breakout period. Results vary by person, some see results as little as two weeks, others don't see results until a few months later. So continue to use the product and your skin will get better." In fact, even a Proactiv representative at the Proactiv Kiosk Queen Center Mall in New York, looked at my face and said exactly the same as the phone representatives. When they learned that the product caused further injuries after the third month or the end of the program, a Guthy-Renker representative said, "You have senstive skin. You are probably allergic to the benzoyl peroxide ingredient. We do have another kit called the Gentle Formula for sensitive skin. I will rush you this product and it will work for you." With no improvements to my condition, in late November 2005, I stopped using Proactiv Solution. Despite the advice given to me by Proactiv representatives to continue treatment with Proactiv, I sought the professional care of a dermatologist to treat the severe outbreak of skin lesions. After consulting with the dermatologist, I was prescribed a costly and powerful medication, which helped improve my condition. He also had to inject each of the pimples caused by Proactiv, which was quite painful. However, I have been left with permanent pit-scarring and skin discoloration on my face as a result of the irritation caused by my prior use of Proactiv Solution. I will need to have an expensive laser surgery procedure to reduce this skin discoloration with no guarantee that the damage can be reversed. After watching numerous infomercials where celebrities would endorse a product, I never once questioned if these products were actually used by them. Yet, after I watched the infomercials for Proactiv Solution, it seemed like the celebrities not only used the product, they praised its ability to clear the skin of blemishes. When I was experiencing mild acne, I had high hopes for Proactiv, and the claims that the celebrities, and the company made. As you have read, the results were not favorable; not only was Proactiv ineffective, but it also caused permanent scarring, short term anguish and depression. This could have been avoided by knowledgeable representatives advising me to stop using the product and consult with a professional dermatologist. The issue is NOT whether Proactiv works or not, but what matters is the lack of accountability taken by the manufacturer and its affiliates; and also the advice given to me by the Proactiv reps to continue using the product despite the outbreaks that I reported. I urge anyone considering the use of this product to carefully re-evaluate their decision, and perhaps prevent a lifetime of pain and embarrassment as the result of using “The Answer for Acne.” I would be very much interested in making this to the news media on a national coverage level. I fell pray to ProActiv as well. It did not hold good on its promises but the real problem was when I returned it and tried to get a refund. "Money back guarantee"...right. I am still trying to get my refund after 10 months. I am refusing to pay for the principle of the matter but it looks like, in order to save my credit, I will have to pay for this junk they are selling. It gave ma a chemical burn and dry peeling skin. I now have to pay for a product that caused me physical harm and one that I returned for my promised refund. If you haven't already purchased ProActiv...don't.

Dear people, I am 15 and have mild acne. So...seeing all the infomercials about Proactiv I decided to dive in and purchse it. I paid $75 for it. Crazy..I know. Anyways I have been using it for a few weeks now and all that's been happening is my face is breaking out even more. And guess what in a week it'll be my first day in highschool. Wow! What a great way to make an entrance and impression. A face full of pulsing volcanoes. (Disgusting...I know) Im praying that it'll hopefully just be the starting stage and that it will get better with time...here's hoping.

My teens begged me to get Proactiv for them to clear up some mild acne that each of them had. What a nightmare! Both of them were horrified when their faces broke out worse than ever. I called the company and was assured that if they kept using the product that it would work. Supposedly, the acne breakout was just temporary due the Proactiv drawing out all the impurities. What a joke! My teens kept using the product and kept hoping and all they got was more acne. I called and cancelled immediately. I was never offered a refund.
