Why does everyone have a problem with this product? I have used it for 2yrs and it works great but you have to keep up with it and use it in the morning and b4 bed everyday. When u first start out it makes you break out because it is purging ur skin of the impurities. If you miss a day or two its like starting from the brginign again where u break out. The only problem is that sometimes it makes my face dry but i put lotion on it and it is fine! so all u need to suck it cus this product works just fine!

I've been using proactiv for over a year now and it really helped with my mild acne. But, it really dries out your skin! And the only reason I kept using it was that when I stopped, I would get little pimples all over my face. It was worse than before I would use it! Don't buy this product, whatever it is, your skin gets addicted to it! Even worse, I am now allergic to benzoyl peroxide (whatever is inside proactiv) because of my prolonged use of it. So, I finally canceled my orders because it was making my face itchy, blotchy, and red. But, what's worse is that I have sooo many pimples all over my face now because I stopped! Also, large cystic pimples would appear out of nowhere. I never had this type of acne before. Using proactiv has made my face worse!

Let's ignore the fact that this product is total crap and you're better off washing your face with urine!!! NONE of those celebrities use this product because they're not stupid enough to use it. BUT don't be suprised if those kits just start magically popping up out of nowhere at your house and your credit card bill is charged. We have boxes of this worthless crap at my house because the folks at Guthry wouldn't stop shipping and billing us for kits we didnt want.

I have rosacea and used Proactiv for over a year. All of a sudden I started having a reaction to it. I tried to quit my subscription but was talked into trying a different batch. I had the worst reaction I had ever had. My eyes were swollen shut for 2 days. I finally quit my subscription after they once again tried to sell me something different. My complaint is how hard they make it to quit your subscription for something that is causing such damage. If the product is so great, why do they need to make it so difficult to get out of their club?

This does not relate to the product itself but to the ad (brochure). It says that you pay only $19.95 and save OVER 50% off individual product prices on the 30-day kit but it is not true: on their own website, the retail prices of each product add up to only $32 (i.e. 38% savings instead of 50+%). And the fine prints say that you AUTOMATICALLY get enrolled when you order, and they charge your credit card every month for $20! Completely misleading advertising!

A friend recommended Proactiv for some minor breakouts I was having. The Proactiv helped at first but then the acne became worse. It was the worst acne I have ever had in my entire life (34 years). In addition to acne on my face, I also began to get the large cystic acne on my neck as others have also reported. Finally had to go to the dermatologist to get my skin clear. I haven't used Proactiv in about 6 months but the cystic acne has not fully healed yet. I would avoid Proactiv and just see a dermatologist.

Oh my God, I'm so glad I found this site. I started using ProActiv summer 2007 for a minor breakout and the results were horrific. Besides the stinging, itchy, dry skin I ended up w/ big cyst size acne all over my face. I had never even had more than 3 pimples at a time in my entire life let alone this. Then on and off for weeks I would wake up to eyes swollen shut to the point where the skin around them burst. Then crusted nasty deep wrinkles w/ red bruising. I didn't immediately put two and two together and thought I encountered "something" I was allergic to. I was put on Prednisone a steroid med for the inflammed face. Had blood work done, b/c the problem was recurring and we could never figure out the problem. Long story short I stopped using ProActiv and never had another allergic episode. Yesterday I had a pimple grabbed the ProActiv and lo and behold the allergic reaction kicked in. Eyes swollen so tight that the skin cracked around them and sore. I know for sure ProActiv is the cause and it should be ILLEGAL. I spent hundreds at the doctor thinking I had an autoimmune problem when the problem was in fact ProActiv. PLEASE BEWARE!!!

I have tried Proactiv twice. The first time it dried my skin badly and didn't do anything for my blemishes. I discontinued use without any problems with the company. I tried it again a year later (I thought maybe I didn't use it right) and no results once again. Both times my money was refunded with no problems.

I used this product for a year, it worked great for me except in the summer months. The step 3 product made my face itch so I stopped using step 3. My face started to break out and the price was starting to hurt my purse so I stopped using it altogether. After I stopped using the product my face broke out real bad and now I have more dark spots on my face then I did prior to using this. I'm thinking of going back to using it because my face isn't getting any better but after reading these postings I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I've tried other products & nothing works. I know I can't use Proactiv for the rest of my life. If you do decide to use Proactiv and it works for you, keep in mind you will have to use it for the rest of your LIFE.

ProActiv was awful. I was breaking out really bad, saw the infomercial and decided it couldn't be that bad to try it. So I paid the $40 and got my stuff in two weeks (yeah, two weeks and they even said that they would upgrade the shipping to expedited for free). I started using it and was fine for about a week. Then, my face started getting worse. And worse. I went from some mild acne to looking like the before pictures in the infomercials. I went to a dermatologist who said that it was an allergic reaction and that a lot of people have the same problem with ProActiv. There is absolutely NO WARNING that the amount of benzoyl peroxide in there can be too much for a lot of people's skin! My skin got better when I quit using it. Do not waste your money on any of this stuff.

Well i found this website while looking for a different product and found the Proactive solution category so i thought i would give my story about it and warn others. I bought the product last year and needless to say there is something in this product others should be aware of even wanting to put on their skin. Well i used the product for about 3 weeks and saw no drastic improvement except for maybe making me pale.Well i was packing for a trip and put the products on my bed to pack, the step 3 solution rolled off the bed without me knowing and i stepped on it making the lid to break and making a mess on the comforter and the carpet...Well the kicker of the story is, is that it Bleached them. (i guess thats why it made my face pale). Now i dont know about the rest of the world but would you want to bleach your face? needless to say, i never used it again and canceled further orders. That is just crazy...bleach

I used proactive for a couple months, and It is really expensive to begin with, I did not have that much acne, but enough that I wanted to use this product. Now that I have stopped using it (I can't afford it) I am breaking out badly all over my chin area, it was never this bad before Proactive..I also have a friend who said the same thing happened to her, once she stopped using it, her acne got way worse than when before she used it!

I recently just got proactiv to help clear up some of my pimples on my forehead. I had like 2. I used it. First day: My face felt smoother (soap does the same thing!) but the pimples were still there and redder than ever. I put on the refining mask at night. Second Day: Woke up. Washed off the stupid white refining mask. NOTHING! My face felt like sand paper. I continued using the stupid stuff thinking, well I can't expect it to clear up overnight. Present Day: I stopped usin it a few days ago when I realized I had pimples in places I would never get them! Big ones too! I feel so embarrassed. It looks like I don't wash my face or something. They're all around my chin and I feel so ugly. Proactiv ruined my face and made me feel ugly. It is a horrible product and the only reason Jessica Simpson endorses it is because she's a washed up singer/actress trying to make money any way she can. Don't use Proactiv. It's such a scam. I even showed my face to my mom and she said tomorrow she's going to call my dermatologist.

Well when I saw Proactive on T.V. I thought it whould be a good product to use when I have a breakout, it realy isnt that effective. The first time I used proactive my skin felt very smooth and soft, but thats about all this product does. The refining mask worked great, but the cleansing 3 step kit sucked! It didnt make my skin irratated at all, it just didnt work, exept for the refining mask, but it did make my face realy pale after using it. So I suggest not to use proactive because its better to just use plain soap and water.

My friend told me it would help my acne ALOT (it did for him) so i ordered it (50 dollars wasted). It was good for the first 4-5 days but then i started noticing it dried my skin out. I thought it was the weather (its winter) but then it got so bad i just completeley gave up on it. THANKS ALOT PROACTIV FOR WASTING MY MONEY!!!

I am 15 years old, and began to get bad acne about 4 months ago. I had never used any type of acne treatment, but my mom ordered proactiv for me. Jessica Simpson really sells the product, but the thing is that it didn't really work. I have been using it for about 2 months at least once a day, and my face has red bumps and blackheads and everything else all over it, and nothing seems to be getting better. I plan to stop my use of the product tomorrow, I hope I can find something else.!

I had A LOT of trouble in canceling the automatice shipment of this product. I used it as directed. After two uses I had an allergic reaction, packed the kit up, filled out the paper enclosed in the original shipment for returns and sent it back. They not only did NOT credit my account, they sent me ANOTHER KIT and charged my account AGAIN! Then the woman on the phone got sarcastic with me. I had to get my bank to credit my account as an unauthorized charge after I explained to them what happened and faxed them the priority mail slip, ect. It was VERY INCONVENIENT. They told me I would have to get the other kit and receive it back before they could credit my account for ONE month's worth...never mind the first shipment I sent them back...they could never find it?!? IT WAS CORRECT as I had proof from the mail slip I received at the post office. I only used TWO applications and it said "Oh use it all and send back empty bottles...blah blah blah!"

I purchased what I thought was a 30 day trial size of Proactiv from their website for my daughter to try. I guess I didn't read carefully, because I did't realize I was joining a "club" until the 60 day supply arrived. I just called to cancel and am returning the product unopened. I was interested to see that some people have been receiving vitamins as a result of their initial Proactiv order that they didn't realize they had signed up for. i will be on the alert for those. I believe that Proactiv uses unscrupulous techniques to sell their product and buries the "club membership" in the fine print. When the product comes, the invoice is printed in large print stating that it is not a bill. The information about the additional products that will be sent is in smaller print and embedded in several paragraphs. My daughter's face also appeared to improve at first and then got worse. I just took her to the dermatologist, which is what we should have done first! Buyer beware! Steer clear of this product.

Well I recently bought a Proactive kit. I started using and thought my face was going to clear up soon. Not exactly. My friends had warned me that it doesn't work for them. On the first day my I used it my skin began to burn intensely. I had to wash it off because it burned so much. On the second day I noticed that my face was breaking out. I got so upset. I had a uge zit on my forehead, instead of having clearer skin. So now I've currently stopped using PROACTIV. I really hope someone makes a produst that WORKS.

Like many of the people on this board, I never had really bad acne--just a couple of pimples every now and then, but it was enough to annoy me so I figured why not try Proactiv? I started using the kit the first week of December '07 and after a week I noticed absolutely no change. In the coming weeks, in addition to the dry, irritated, itchy skin that seems to be common here, I was getting more and more pimples. But not just little red bumps--big freaking puberty pimples that came to a head and were gross! But I figured it has to come to the surface and then the stuff will start working, right? WRONG. After two months, I have more pimples and red bumps on my face than I ever had in my life. I am a 25 year old woman. I was lucky enough to not have acne when I was 13 but I feel like I'm 13 now. Here I am covering up my pimples and whiteheads with makeup, hiding my face with my hair. How embarassing! My face is sensitive to the touch and these things just keep appearing with no end in sight! I wish I had never tried Proactiv. DO NOT use this product. It's ruined my face. I hope I have an easier time having my membership cancelled than some of the people on this board. Jeez. I should have known after the Beadazzler failed me never to order anything off TV again. I'm all for a class action lawsuit.
