I have tried two Roombas. While it is a cute tech device, if you have any rugs, cords, furniture with legs (ie dining room tables), or any miscellaneous items on the floor, forget it. Both Roombas got stuck on rugs, tried to climb the circular bases on my living chairs and would get stuck so I spent 5 to 10 minutes barracading chair legs and areas under an behind furniture (Roombas can get stuck under furniture and retrieval is a pain.) before using Roomba. I finally abandoned vacuuming all rooms except the bedroom (I have no space under the bed) due to the constant need to unstick or restart the Roomba. The battery lasted less than a year and is over $70 to replace. After spending $300 to watch the vacuum get stuck and annoy me, I obviously will not purchase another. This technology has a long way to go before being useful to the majority of customers.

I purchased this vaccume a year ago for touch up cleaning. It worked fine only 4 times then just quit. The recharging took several hours, I would turn it on, but it wouldn't work. I would plug it back in to recharge, and the battery was completely dead! It never held a charge at all...and it was only used 4 times! It was past its warranty of 90 days, so I could not replace the battery for free. The replacement would have been 80 bucks, and since I only paid 124.00 for it on sale, it was hardly worth it for me to keep replacing faulty batteries. I'll never buy another one.

I purchased the ROOMBA over a year ago but when its batteries finally gave out, I decided I didn't want to replace them. First of all, the name ROOMBA Vacuum is a misnomer as it implies that it is a vacuum type device. It is not. It is simply a series of two different-sized horizontal bristle brushes, a rubberized horizontal sweeper, and finally a side-sweeper similar to a Q-tip in size. All it does is go along your floor and carpet brushing and gathering any lint or loose tiny paper scraps on the floor. There is absolutely NO vacuum device within the unit at all. At first I was excited about owning it and requested by phone call on four separate occasions to have them send me some sales/informational brochures describing their product for distribution to my friends. A Wasted effort in all cases I might add. One thing I am extremely unhappy about was the day I returned home and discovered the ROOMBA was not back in its charging pod. When looking for it, I found it in my hallway turned off and its yellow light (recharge needed) LED blinking. The unit had wedged itself into the hallway corner. It scoured a hole in the carpeting the size of the diameter of the sweeping unit itself, leaving a larger donut-shaped permanent scar in my carpeting. It evidently kept turning around in a circle and wore a large hole in my carpeting. I tried using it a couple of times after that and it started acting weird and would send an audible tone which sounded like, Uh-oh and would then turn itself off. It was then when I decided to stop using it entirely and have warned many friends to not throw their money away especially after they have witnessed my damaged hallway carpet. Please do not waste your money on this unit. It is a novelty; not a good household floor cleaner and especially NOT a vacuum per se'. It sucks up your money by purchasing it and then paying for the damage it causes later.

We are now using our 2nd Rhoomba, as the 1st one the dog pushed off the landing and down two flights of stairs. It just couldn't take the fall. Prior to this fall from grace when we had a problem we found the company to be polite and helpful almost to a fault. They sent us an easy to replace repair part at no charge in trying to diagnose a problem and then totally replaced our 1st unit when that didn't fix the problem. In all I just wish the Rhoomba could withstand 10 foot falls and being pushed by dogs over the edge. And they advertised it as pet safe!

The Roomba (second or 3rd generation) was given to me as a gift by someone who works for []. It's battery charge seemed to only last for about 20 minutes and it constantly go stuck in corners or awkward places. In the 20 minutes that it would run I would have to empty the very small plastic dust container twice. In 5 years this this will be great and ready for the mass market but for not it's just a novelty technology that's not worth the money.

Roomba has some quirks but isnt a bad product. Its not meant to replace an upright vacuum, far from it. It simply reduces the frequency you need to clean. For all of you people out there you arent supposed to watch it try to pick up every piece of hair and lint. Give it some time and let it go by itself for 2 hours. Also use the virtual walls to avoid areas where it might get stuck

We have hardwood floors and a dog. The Roomba simply DOES NOT work. You can watch it roll right over hair or dirt, without picking it up. It is a good idea, but a waste of money.

I tried the Roomba and I do not like it at all. I have wood floors with rugs on them. I also have a few rooms that have a floor slightly higher or lower than the rest of the house. The Roomba will stop cold in its tracks for even the slighters bump, meaning you have to follow it around to help it up. On the wood floors I noticed it just pushed dust ahead, but when it changes course, which it does often, it leaves the clump of hair and dust and never actually sucks it up. I took this item back to the store the very next day!!!
