Yes, I too have been sucked in the SMC program. I've signed up for the special trail rate of 114.45 for the year which suppose to come with a Big Value website. I've called my business coach and was talked into a full e-commerce website (which is called the super seller website package). Found out the the e-commerce site was just an upgraded gift card redemption site with the Big value website that I've already had which automatically made me a super seller (spent over 2700 for this program). I've called and written them a letter to the memebership dept and their e-commerce dept. to try to cancel because this is not want I was told of the website that I was getting. But of course they said it was an investment and they knew that the site that I've received was a gift card redemption site and not a full service website. So they had a sales person from their e-commerce department call me to upgrade the website (which I thought I was suppose to have gotten away) but I would have to spent an extra $295 and use the credit of $795 from my 2790 I've spent on the website that I've never got. The e-commerce dept refunded the money back to the SMC account. So I've file a complaint with my bank that the services that they said they would provide and what my money back (If you got charge within 60days, the bank can file a complaint with SMC to get your money back). Don't let these guys bully you in not getting your money back. Go to your bank and have them charge it back. I've also filed a complaint with the BBB, FTC, and my attorney general's office. If more people filed a complaint, especially with the FTC and their attorney general, the more likely they will have evidence to file a class action lawsuit against this company. Even if you feel that you may not get your money back, file a complaint anyway. How would people know it's a problem with this company if no one complains.

My friend and I joined smc to make alittle money being she was not working and i am ssi. they told us that we could get a website free and coaching would cost us $29.95 and membership $9.95. found out that the website was a gift card site and u had to but the gift cards amd charged $3.33 for each card. u could not buy anything on the site unless you had a gift card but that is not what they told us in the begining. They were told to taske the monies out of my account on the 29 of august and instead they set me in the minus. then the bank charged me their charge and now i am out $212.00. when i went to talk to their tech support they went into my account again an tried to take monies again. i have a letter or a email stating they would not refund my monies because i didnt cancel before the 30 days grace period. but thry have been calling and calling me about upgrading. there is no way. a scam is a scam.

We were duped for thousands. We had merchandise credits we went to order items and our balance was zero. Were not told the credits we paid for expired. Fee every month for a website that is worthless-about $40. Purchase of catalogs, etc. Printings, Ads in papers, flea market costs, etc. Total waste and put us deeper in debt. Most of the stuff is junk. You can buy better items in the [] or corner thrift store or [] or yard sale. All we can say is stay away. Plain and simple SMC = SOME MORE CRAP Add a Comment Posted on 09/17/2008 at 10:09:04 PM

Hi. I just got started with SMC. They got us all excited about having our own web site and said we could name it whatever we wanted to,etc. Now all we got was a lousy big value web site, and they failed to tell us we have to issue out gift cards, or people can't even buy from the site (at least the first time). It only has like 36 products on it, and to be honest, unless you give a discount, they really aren't all that great a deal. My hubby works for [] and the tools set (same one) is for sell there at [] for like $15, and SMC would charge the general public about $40! And then they charge you the same price as [] (which is supposed to be a white or wholesale big deal). I am not really that pleased with my business coach, because she said to have questions ready- but she never lets me get a word in edgewise! She tried the very first meeting (appointment) to get me to spend $2,760 on the SPOT! I was in disbelief. SMC wouldn't let me do any dealing with the websites at first, because my husbnad's name was the only one on it at first. He called to get my name put on it, but had to do it again, because apparently the emerchant part of it is separate from the SMC part of it. So I went ahead and bought 10 gift cards, but I haven't got them yet (would have been helpful for them to tell me I'd need them the first day! But I guess they string you along as long as possible) so when I get them, I'm going to TRY to give or sell them. I have tried and tried to seel out of the catalogs, but I can't get them to see I know that's just going to be a failure- I've tried it before. They want you to give to family and friends, but that can upset some people- and as far as mailouts, there isn't that big of a turn around on it, and here you've spent all the money to get and mail out bundles of catalogs! I don't see how this is going to last, but my husband keeps the faith. He wants to upgrade to the bigger site, and I'm sure that would be great (if anything sells) but look at all the upfront cost you put out, and if nothing ever sells! So anyway, if you have a better business you found after the SMC scam please contact me and let me know [] at yahoo. I really want to know!

I was watching this product one night. I called with the idea of getting a free video. The customer service represetative convinced me to try it for the 30 day trial period and if I wanted to continue which I said, I couldn't afford to not charge my credit card. I had to make over and over again the request for them to stop charging my account. I told them I had not agreed to have my account continued to be charged. I asked that they pull the call, so we both would hear my say, not to bill me automatically for anything. They have just resently stopped billing my account. Do not do business with these sharks.

i have always liked Tom Bosley so I thought I would get into smc just to see if it would be profitable. Would not give them my credit card number or anything that they could use to take out of my account. They called me next day and I told them they could send info to me. They called several times trying to get me to join. They were not professional acting and would not take no for an answer. Finally I just hung up. Looked at peoples comments on them and decided not to get involved with them. Too many complaints. What does Tom Bosley have to say about all this?

I had contacted SMC and agreed to receive the preliminary packet of catalogs. I ended up never getting anything from them and they subsequently turned my account over to collections and have attempted to ruin my credit. For months they harassed me with phone calls that stated that I had to pay monthly fees, however when I tried to report that I never got the initial kit, therefore I had no access to products or ordering etc I was told that's not our problem. I have disputed their ding towards my credit and have successfully (after two years) gotten it removed from all three credit bureaus. As so many of you have pointed out many of their products are available everywhere. I do find their commercials hysterical to watch now that they've put me through hell.

I'm getting a ton of spam because I regected SMC and was wondering if anyone else had this happen to them. This is my story. I went to their website and asked them to email me information. A day later I got a call from a hardball salesman who wanted me to sign up on the spot. I said I would think about it and would contact them if I decided it was a good business to get into. He tryed to talk me into signing up but after awhile just hung up on me. Well, then the phone calls started, from different people at SMC. I finally got tired of telling them I was not interested, so I blocked their phone number. Shortly after that I started to get hundreds of spam emails from SMC and other home business websites. SMC uses lots of spam email address: [] These are just a few and remember to never open them!

I'm sorry to hear so many of you have had problems with SMC. I started a business with SMC back in 2000 and did great. Never had any problems with the company. They promised that they would give me a refund of my membership in merchandse once I'd purchased $5000 in products. It didn't take long and they gave it all to me. I never opened a shop, I just did this from home. I had to end my business in 2003 for personal reasons. I recently contacted SMC to re-start my business and ended up with a bogus company that tried to get me to re-sign with a Gold membership because my membership expired. After speaking with a couple of people there I realized that this was bogus. They just didn't handle things like I remembered SMC doing. The real SMC is charging me $75 to be reinstated and the bogus company wanted me to pay over $300. If any of you are really interested the real website and contact number for SMC is [] []. Website is without the www. Bogus site is []. I have done too many work at home deals and SMC is not. This bogus company is giving them a bad name.

I ASKED HER TO LOOK UP THE WEB SIGHT AND SHE DID THATS WHEN SHE FOUND THE COMPLAINTS AND RELIZED IT WAS A SCAM. IF ANY ONE IS THINKING THAT THEY CAN MAKE MONEY AT THIS SCAM, THINK AGAIN AND IF ANYONE WOULD WONT TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK IM AM FILING A LAW SUITE AGAINST SMC. SO IF YOU WONT YOUR MONEY BACK EMAIL ME AT [] WE WILL TAKE THEM TO COURT AND WIN THIS HAS GOT TO STOP BEFOR MORE PEOPLE GET HURT BY THIS SCAM.

Okay, yup I also got suckered into SMC. not wanting to make monthly payments i went ahead and paid for the GOLD package totaling $314.95! I should have figured out it was wrong from the beginning because it took me THREE calls just to sign up. The first time I called, gave all my info EVERYTHING. went to the bank, the transaction wasn't made. I finally officially (really) signed up the third time i called to join, July 22nd. And the money was debited finally from my account.. o all excited I waited 2 WEEKS! for my membership kit. it finally came and i was so excited to get started. I made my first appointment with my Business Coach, he starts off asking HOW MUCH MORE i am willing to invest into the company? I was like uh? What did I pay the 314.95 for? He's asking me to invest 1000+ more just to get my website officially up and running. So i have invested 314.95. I have my kit, still no site? still no money. I thought to myself. something is wrong. I better pull out quick!

Like the rest of you, saw the commercial on tv and thought what the heck, maybe I could make this work. So I called. I had my guard up from the begining. Because the rep was willing to do just about anything to get me to join, he waived the sign up fee of $25.00 and had me pay the s/h for the materials plus getting the use of the website and other services for 30 for just $15.00. This is where on the infomercial they say you can get started for under $25.00. At the 30 days, if I stayed a member then I would pay $9.95 + $29.95 for the host site. After reading this site, note to self to check ahead of time, and getting hung up on 3 times and spoken to rudely when I was nice the entire time, why would I want to do business with a company that has very poor customer service! So now I may be out $15.00 but I did call my bank and put a stop to it and changed my bank card for no charge to make sure this company will never make a charge to my account again. After on the phone for over an hour, I was in the end able to talk to a nice person who canceled my account. Like I said before, do your homework and most important if you can't see the product don't do it. If you can't know that you are selling a good product then you are actually being dishonest to your customers who have faith in you. Thank you for your time.

I was looking for a home based business! SMC contacted me and offered a complete package including an internet site for 24/7 business with credit card capability and free coaching for 90 days for 29.00 a month. When I recieved the site I had no links and only 1 sales catalog was inserted. I called and emailed 2 weeks before they would answer the phone. After my being nasty they put my coach [] on line, he told me to go online and find free links to promote my business. He called the following Monday for a few minutes barely said anything except he could better explain when the site was up and running. The site they gave me sucked! They said they could up grade for 10 more dollars a month! So I did at this time 4 weeks after buying! They said I should buy gift cards to promote the business so I did! When the new site was finished I learned by reading the information they provided on the [] that the only way for a customer to purchase anything was to have 1 of there gift cards that I had to purchase from them and distribute. Also that I could only sell in the US and Canada! This was and is a scam! How can I contact everyone 24/7 to give them card numbers so they can purchase! Also pay SMC 3.00 for every purchase for the cards!

Hello everyone, My name is Maggie, I called SMC this morning (July 22nd 08)to get informaiton. I spoke with a lady named Liza. She rushed me into a 300$ deal. I was not fully explained the policies. Once I gave my card number, the lady, Liza started mentioning other stuffs (eg: 49/yearly catalogue fee). Then she transferred me in the payment confirmation lady. The line cut. I thought this was weird; I called my bank right the way and the transaction was already through. I thought this was weird as other companies would bother calling you or even emailing you. They had not read their company’s policies yet they rush to charge innocent me. I called back to cancel and got another rude guy called Gill. He refused to do so. I told him that the conversation was recorded and he quickly transferred me to a machine. here is the fax number the gave me if you want to cancel. 805 584 8267 For those of you struggling with them. Do not let yourself down. Fight back call the media, your local news papers. The more people know about it the easier life will for other innocent. I should have read this blog. Thanks to all of you. Maggie

I saw an infomercial for SMC one night and thought it sounded really good. I knew there would be a catch like there always is so I looked up the website and saw you had to pay over $400 to join. I thought Yeah right, like I have 400 bucks to waste on something that wont work, or scams me for more money. So I left it alone. Well I tell my friend about how awesome it would be if it worked and he suddenly gets hyped up about it and wants to try it! He says we could be partners and split the membership fee 50/50. So I give in and agree to do it. He signs up for the free info and we wait for it to come in. Well my friend calls me today and says that he just got off the phone with SMC. They said he had been selected for a special one time offer to pay $500 for a membership and get a free website to sell the stuff. He told them that he doesn't have that kind of money and they dropped the price to $300. Okay, he thought, why are they suddenly dropping the price for only one guy. He still said he would have to do the $39 a month deal and the rep said hold on a minute as he talks to his manager. He then drops the price to $200 for a membership and free website. My friend told me that this guy sounded like he was trying to scam him. But he decided it was too good of a deal to pass up. So he gave his credit card number to the rep but after discusion with the rep he decided to hang up before the rep compleated the order. Bad news was the credit card number was already out there. He called me and told me all this and I had mixed feelings on it being a scam or a super awesome deal! He asked me to look up SMC scams because this guy was so anxious to get him to join. Sure enough I found this website and my jaw dropped. I told him to call the credit card number and see if the payment had been made since he did give his number away. Turns out he gave out the wrong credit card number. The number he gave out only had $50 bucks tops on it. This website saved us from making one of the worse decisions of our lives. We are so glad we caught the scam before something big happened. If SMC calls back we plan on messing with them. You know accepting orders and saying something like Yeah we saw all these scam reports on you and how we should stay away from you but you would never scam us huh? or Sure I'll spend thousands of dollars off my credit card for you even though you said it would be only $300. The only thing SMC shoud stand for is Scam My Customers or something like that. Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to never attempt SMC again.

I ordered SMC on their website. On there it states that you pay 39.95 per month. I expect it. I am not going to get a website through SMC.

It's unfortunate that there are so many complaints about SMC. I agree with the few that have stood up for SMC. You must put work into any business. I started with them in 1996, I only sell products to other Realtors part time, and do give all of my clients gifts from smc too. As with any start-up business you must invest some money. I never had any issues getting catalogs, orders are always handled properly, as are returns. They do drop-ship products and my clients have never complained with the quality of the products. If it's not for you and your not getting your refund (if returned within 30 days), be sure to let your bank know, they should reverse those charges. I've also visited the showroom in San Fernando Valley multiple times and everyone there over the years have alway been nice and helpful.

Like everyone else I seen SMC on commercials so I decided to try it out. Whenever I was talking to the guy to sey everything up he told me it would be 29.95 that this was a one month special offer to get your kit and once you got it if you were not interested you could send it back. Well my coach called after about 3 weeks of having the kit and I told him that I wanted to cancel with SMC and I would be sending the kit back he told me I could just keep the kit also and that I would not get refunded the money back well 2 months later I get a phone call saying that I owe them 400.00 and this is going to be a law suit!! I dont know what to do I think that this is BS how they are ripping people off and I will not send them the money either. If anyone does do a law suit againt them I will back you. I tryed calling SMC and I talked to a guy who was SOO rude hung up on me 2 times and them wouldnt answer my phone calls for the rest of the day. If anyone has had a similar problem like this with SMC please tell me what you did

Well, I saw the infomercial for SMC just the other day, I got online and requested some information about the company. It has been two days now and I have received non stop calls from these people! Since I've come across this site with all the complaints I wouldn't dare deal with these people and when I receive the info in the mail, I'm going to immediately trash it! I'm not going to put myself this the hassle!
