I used these for underbed storage. The principle works fine, but be careful not to "catch" the bag on any sharp object. The ones I pushed under my bed got caught in part of the frame and were totally useless due to the leak it developed. The plastic should be made stronger (poke resistant). It would be nice if the product would have a repair kit enclosed with it.

Great Concept However, the product doesnt work. After 15 minutes only 1 bag out of 14 had not re-inflated. One bag lost the valve (into the vacuum hose) when we pulled vacuum on the bag. The one good bag lost the vacuum after one hour. We tried recompressing the zipper and at the same time apply vacuum but it didnt help either. The trick is to suck the air out and quickly put the Spacebags in the suitcase (and hope the zippers hold and at the same time pray that a customs officer dont ask you to open the suitcase because you cant close it again without a vacuum cleaner) Calling Customer Service didnt help (got a prerecorded message). They did however call back 3 weeks later. But there was nothing they could do (because we had not purchased the bags directly from Spacebags). We had seen the product on TV but needed it quickly before a family trip, so we bought it at Linen and Things. Subsequently, we took the remaining bags back to Linen and Things. They reimbursed us for the bags we brought back (we lost the money for the bags that we discarded at the destination because the valves on these bags also ended up in the vacuum cleaner) It is about time that the Glad Products Company or one of the other quality manufacturers takes the concept and run Spacebag out of business by introducing a product that works.

i've bought 3 different sets, they ALL don't work ! The only kind I've found that works is for your luggage, where you roll the bags up with your clothes in them. the bags push the air out, and nothing comes in. works great. but, don't travel with them. you'll go over your bag weight limit and have to repack at the airport. that happened to us !

I was really impressed with the spacebags infomercial. We live in a duplex and storage space is at a premium. I'd stored some stuff...sweaters, winter bedding, ski clothes...a couple of months ago. When winter started, I tried to store my patio furniture pads. (They'll be nice and fresh next summer, right???) One bag leaked air immediately  and was back to full size within 15 minutes. Tried to suction it down again and the rubber fixture went down the vacuum hose. Luckily, I managed to hit the power button and grab it before it got into the main part of the vacuum. Another bag did work, but then when I went to put it with the other bags that were sealed a couple of months ago, I found that EVERY one of them has leaked air. I've just sucked the air back out again, but obviously, this product is not performing as expected. Thank God I didn't put important photos and documents in one and dump gallons of water on it, as suggested by their infomercial! This product is a GREAT idea. I would be really happy with them if they actually worked. Don't waste your $$ until they fix the design flaws. After the first week of ownership, I'd recommended these to my friends. Now I'm going to have to go "eat crow" and tell them that they're junk. I'm sorry, but how hard is it to make a plastic bag that stays closed??????

Space bags are well advertised and a great product in theory.  However, after purchasing this product my only hope is that I can ge my money back on this "money-making scam".   It is nothing more that a cheap sandwhich bag.  I tried three different bags, all different sizes.  Each bag re-inflated within minutes.

Every year, going camping in a crowded van with the family could be a pain, so we bought the Jumbo and Large Space Bags from, I think, []. While I don't see why "the patented watertight zipper" is patented because it does NOTHING unless you squeeze it TIGHTLY while zipping, the bags reduced the size by half. The zipper tab falls off every time we use it. The infomercial brags that the bags are THICK NYLON, they are really not much more thicker than a Ziplock, because apparently, a simple sleeping bag RIPPED the bag right through. While inspecting the hole, I realized that the plastic is really cheap, and easily punctured. It's great if you have the patience. I have had no problems with leakage.

DO NOT buy space bags!!!!  I thought to myself "people wouldn't keep buying these things if they didn't work, right?"  OH HOW VERY WRONG I WAS.  they SUCK.  i wasted my money--i bought both the jumbo to store extra bedding and the travel to store sweaters and the like while i travel.  1.  the jumbos reinflated almost IMMEDIATELY after sealed the "one way valve" (what a joke).  2.  one of the travel bags also reinflated though much more slowly...about an hour or two and the air had leaked back in and 3.  the other travel back couldn't even be zip locked!  the tracks were misaligned so i didn't even have the opportunity to see if it would reinflate because i couldn't close the damn bag. DON'T GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY.   use garbage bags and do it yourself manually.  DO NOT BE DECEIVED!.

These are garbage! The air leaks back in! They are flimsy. They are worthless. They are a waste of time and money.

Elizabeth writes:
I purchased one at a local store: 1 out of 3 bags did not work. Minutes after I closed the zipper, the air filled back in. The zipper is flimsy, worse than on a zip-lock bag. I would not buy one again!

I bought a package of 3 Space Bags from one of those "as seen on TV" stores. On the infomercial, it seems that the bags are made of tough vinyl, but once I opened the box I discovered they are a cheap, crinkly plastic almost like a cigarette wrapper. The product appeared to work, I did indeed manage to store something like 3 pillows, 4 quilts and a sleeping bag in one bag. Unfortunately, the plastic is such crap that 4 months later, 2 of my 3 Space Bags have since split open. They are so fragile I don't dare touch the third. A Ziplock bag would be stronger and that's no exaggeration. Just a warning... in the commercial they talk about how your stuff will be kept pristine for years. My clothes have long outlasted the Space Bag. However nowhere in the commercial did they ever claim that the bag was strong or would last forever, or that there was any kind of guarantee so I guess it's just a case of buyer beware.

Sue writes:
I wholeheartedly agree. While the product DOES do what it claims to do, the plastic is simply too flimsy and cheaply made to be worth your money or effort. If they were to improve the quality of the bag itself, it would be a very useful product.

Teresa writes:
I agree with all the other complaints about this product. The plastic is really cheap and rips easily. I bought alot of the bags to store all our winter clothes, linens, etc and was dismayed to find the plastic had either ripped open or the air had gotten in. I'll use garbage bags or plastic containers instead. What a rip-off!!

Luke writes:
The Space Bags seemed very space saving, but as soon as I sucked out the air, even before getting round to putting them away, they had filled up with air again! Not worh it.

Holly writes:
I purchased some space bags last year and was extremly disappointed.  They are so cheap and flimsy.  I put a comforter   in one and tried to slide it under my bed.  The thing split open.  They don't hold air either.  I pumped the air out and within an hour the bag filled up again.  I only wish I had found all of these complaints before I spent my money on this crap!

Patricia writes:
These bags are pure garbage. I bought them at Bed Bath and Beyond (three space bags) for about $20. I've used two of the bags and they both leak. Pure crap! I've taped them up but they still leak air because since I've vacuumed the air out they've plumped up. What's the use? I would never recommend these bags to anyone.

Jessica writes:
Space bags are awful.  I had them and after a day they all busted.  Literally got holes in them and leaked all the air out of  them.  Complete waste of money.

Sarah writes:
These bags are crap!!  I spent money on the "real" space bags, the zipper is flimsy and doesn't stay closed when you pick it up, a zip-lock baggie is better, and they air doesn't stay out. I bought 4 bags to store my winter clothes, and 2 of them got little holes in them. I vaccummed the air out of the other two and within a couple of hours, the air was back in. I went to Target and bought "no-name" brand space bags and they worked a little better, but at least I spent $6.99, not $19.99 for bags that do not work! I have to say though, that they little travel bags that come with the big bags do work!!  you can't fit much in, but the air does stay out.

Gretchen writes:
these bags are the biggest rip-off.  i can't tell you how many times i've had to reseal them.  all i get from the seller is that 'i'm not doing it right'.  i've had two bags literally rip in half! i wish i had seen this complaint site before i wasted my money. crap, crap, crap.  space bags are crap.

Crista writes:
I am glad that I found this web-site.  I am tired of filling these bags up to find out soon after there was a pin prick hole somewhere I could hear leaking out air.  I have returned a set of bags I bought from Bed Bath and Beyond 2X and only a couple have worked.  Great concept-terrible product.

Janet writes:
I just started to get out my summer clothes, t-shirts, shorts, slacks, all casual stuff.  Only one of the bags was still flat but looked funny.  When I opened it, there was mold and mildew ALL over everything and they were wet!!  They certainly weren't that way going in and they had all been hand pressed and neatly folded.  For the life of me I can't figure out what happened but after I emptied the other bags, they all went into the garbage including the clothes!  Not only did I waste my money on them I lost most of my summer tops and shorts!  Don'y buy these bags!!
