I have bought these things three separate times over the last number of years.  All of them leaked air out hours after they were sealed. I stored some expensive pillows for the winter and when I oped them a few months later, they were molded and mildewed and were completely ruined.  So was the comforter, sheet set and other things I had put in these bags.  All of my stuff was molded/mildewed and were wet when I opened them I had placed the bags in the end of the closet, so I know there was no water there and I know everything was clean and dry.   I even had some bags replaced and they did the same thing. Don't waste your money, even the new ones are no better, because within a few hours you are trying to find out what you did wrong or where the leak is.

Spacebags are crap!I have tried them at great expense. With this site I found out I am not alone. There is a new item out called the BagButton, you use it with your own garbage bags, it really work.

I considered buying space bags until I noticed how much they wanted to charge for shipping and handling from their website.  For $8 Shipping and Handling, I would expect next day delivery for seven "plastic" bags ($19.95).  I called their support line and was told that shipping was via US Mail.   If I wanted expedited shipping (5-7 business days) that would cost an additional $6.95.  Have to pay more for shipping than I do for the bags.  What a scam.....

At first I thought these space bags were great.   I went back to Bed BAth and Beyond and bought a bunch more for a lot of money.   Little did I know that over time all the air leaks out of them.  Very disappointing to say the least.  It's a great concept.  Too bad they couldn't perfect it.

I purchased one extra large "Space Bag" from a nearby store called Organized Living. I carefully read all the instructions several times because they were written in an awkward kind of English. As directed, I slid the plastic zipper open and close before I placed any clothes in the bag. The slide zipper did not function as a zipper. The plastic slide came off of its track almost immediately. Having prior experience with many types of faulty zippers, I simply placed the plastic slide back onto its track.  Once a zipper fails in this way it never really performs properly, especially if it is a plastic slide style of zipper.   I was not going to take a chance of using this bag for any good clothes so I filled the bag with some sweatshirts to store away during the summer. I had to manually close the zipper section myself by pressing the tracks into place.  So, first, the zipper does not function as a zipper.  Second, after using a vacuum cleaner hose to withdraw the air, I soon heard a very clear sound of air escaping from the round suction cap area where the vacuum cleaner hose is to be placed, not from the zipper area. This did surprise me. The zipper area actually seemed to have been sucked tightly closed while the air was being withdrawn. I repeated the step of using the vacuum cleaner hose to withdraw air. Air could still be clearly heard hissing out from the round suction cap area. My conclusion,   is that this product does not work. Air does continue to expand the bag over a matter of minutes; the seal is poor; and the type of plastic material used will by nature create a hot environment and enable condensation within the bag.  It is like creating a plastic tent, putting it in a hot environment (storage in a closet during the summer months) and collecting droplets of moisture. Please note that the other type of bag mistaken for the "Space Bag" is the kind where you simply roll up the bag to express air in order to make clothing items more compact during a trip. This is not the same type of bag. It has no zipper, and has no round suction opening. I have also purchased this type of bag at Organized Living. It is called "Portable Solutions" and works just fine for short-term portable or storage usage.

Jul12,2005 Just recieved my 12 fromspacebag.com today. I suggest avoid this product completely. There is absolutely nothing space age about this product. You basic sandwich bags from the local grocery store are more reliable than this product. None of the bags worked. The zipper seal would not stay close on any of the bags, even with nothing in the bag.The bags that had blankets ,etc held their seal for about 2 minutes. This product is a total failure.I will attempt to get some of my money back.I'm sure this company is aware of its product failure and will avoid honoring their so-called 60 day guarantee as long as the law will allow.

Bought the Space Bags.  It keeps inflating!   I was so excited about having more room in my closet.  Now, all I've done is purchased an expensive trash bag.  There are too many other complaints out there on this one to ignore. Bad purchase.  Bad product.

We bought them because they said it would compact clothing so flat we could save space when we move to Boston.  But never I would be so disgusted than when the vacuum valve started leaking air, and some of the zippers never stayed shut.  If I was Donald Trump, I fire them, and show no mercy at them.  All in all, use your regular black bags.
