I hate to sound like a broken record, but mine, too started losing power very quickly after I got it. The first couple of weeks were great. It's the battery.
It wasn't worth $40 in the first place and I am NOT spending another $15-20 with shipping over and over or even one more time. Great concept; they shouldn't have ripped people off with the details. At least part of the plastic can be recycled!

I just got the swivel sweeper. When I opened it a noticed it was some poorly constructed plastic junk. I made the best of it and used it. It has been a week so far, and it works okay, but I can not use the back saver bending pole, because it cause the battery to pop out when ever i bend it to get under stuff. Well my complaint currently is the cost. This is a complete BAIT and SWITCH plan. I saw the commercial, a the AD said 2 swivels for the easy payment of two payments of $19.99, plus shipping and handling. The shipping cost is ridiculous I must say. Anyway, When I received my bill, it had as cost of 59.97 for the unit, 0.00 for the free unit and 29.98 for the shipping, and terms saying 3 easy payments of 19.99. I called and informed them that the commercial I saw stated what I mentioned earlier. The BAIT and SWITCH took place. Ma'am, you received the Swivel G2, and that unit is 3 payments of 19.99. I informed her that the phone agent never mentioned a 3 pay plan, and a difference in unit styles. I informed her that the e-mail they sent me with my order also had the commercial I saw, and the commercial does not talk about a G2, or 3 payments at all. She offered to give me 10.00 off each order. I told her it was not acceptable and that she needed to go back and listen to the tapes of my conversation with her agent. I was told about one price, and that was all I was going to pay. I also informed her I was sending the second order that I had not opened back to them C.O.D. because I was not happy with their BAIT and SWITCH tactic, and was not about to be played with. They told me they would call me back after reviewing the tapes of my conversation. I told her I already made my decision, and I was going to report this a a Bait and Switch company. I told her that when she called me back she should really think about the answer she was going to give me about crediting my card appropriately. I informed her that I was from a family of attorneys, and had a 5000 data base e-mail that i would utilize to warn against purchasing from them. Lady, it would be cheaper for you to refund me what I ask as oppose to all of the money you will lose when i launch my 5000 e-mails warning against your shady tactics. I told her it was her choice.

I purchased the Swivel Sweeper after watching the infomercial several times. It looked as if this product would be great for the dog hair issues. I also use the swiffer, but it does not pick up larger debris that the dogs bring in. When I first got it, I loved it. I was becoming a swivel sweeper fool. I used it every day. Then, after a few months, the battery would no longer hold a charge. Hmm, how strange that a product would only last a few months. I called the company and was told that I was charging the batteries improperly. How can one charge batteries improperly. They go in the charger and get charged. Duh! But no, you have to remember to take them off the charger after 8 hours or the batteries become overcharged and no longer will work according to a customer service rep at Swivel Sweeper (973) 439-9035.
I have rechargeable batteries that I plug in and grab when I need them. I have rechargeable power tool batteries that sit in the charger until I need them. Since when does a rechargeable battery have to have a timer on it so it doesn't get overcharged? The other rechargable batteries shut off when they have reached their full charge.
This is an inherent design flaw.
Buyer beware if you purchase this product, it should be known that it is a disposable product. The batteries will only last a few months and after 90 days, Ontel Products, the maker of Swivel Sweeper, will not replace the batteries. You can purchase another battery for $14.99 + $5,99 S&H, which equates to about the same price I paid for it at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I thought I might try the competitor, [], but after looking at their reviews, I don't think I will be getting that one either. I guess I will go back to the old reliable of a broom and dust pan!

I purchased 3 swivel sweepers, one for our houseboat one for my home and one for my daughter. It wasn't long before the batteries did not take a charge and one of the sweepers stopped working. I was so happy to see a product like this hit the market because I have a bad back and bending over & sweeping can be difficult so this was a wonderful idea but they should have tested the very poor design for the battery, I will not recommend this product to anyone, it was a complete waste of money.

Swivel sweeper should be regarded as a disposable product. After just a few rechrges batterie die and are not recharable any longer. For the cost of the louzy batteries you could almost buy a new sweeper. My advice is don't order this peoduct unless you plan to buy a new one in a few months

The swivel sweeper was a good idea in concept. Unfortnatley someone decided to use a crummy charging system for the battery pack. Some have wrote in defense of this product that people who had problems with the battery pack don't know how to properly recharge batteries which leads to the batteries being damaged due to overcharging. However I submit that I should NOT have to remember to unplug the charger after a certain amount of time. I have enough to remember already.
A simple fix to this problem would have been to design the battery pack so the batteries could be replaced. Instead they designed a propietary system that requires you to purchase a new battery pack when it dies, if you want to continue using the swivel sweeper.
After both of my battery packs died, I decided to go back to the old fashion broom and mop. Works good, and I provide the power for both.

I received the swivel sweeper as a gift. At first I was very excited, it did a great job on tile and wood floors. Unfortunately that was only for two months. Since then I can't get the battery to hold a charge for more than 20 seconds. After reading 7 pages of complaints I'm amazed this company is still in business. Where is the Better Business Bureau? This company shouldn't be allowed to do business and rip innocent people off.

the swivel sweeper is a wonderful product if it could only hold a charge in the battery. For whatever reason it does not hold a charge for more than 5 minutes. Is there a recall on the product or does the product have a defect. My purchase was done in the spring of this year so the warrenty has expired. I am currently seeking other options for sweeping my tile and wood floors. I sure hope the company remedies the problem.

Batteries are all garbage. I have 4 batteries and none work more than 2 minutes. Some won't even take a charge. It just seems batteries are junk. Sweeper worked good.

I purchased the Swivel Sweeper from a TV commercial. When the product arrived, I used it to sweep the kitchen floor. I did this once daily in a very small kitchen and was thrilled with it. However, it seemed that the battery did not hold a charge for more than 2 or three minutes. I sent an e-mail to customer service and they asked me if the red light was operating on the charger. When I replied to tell them it was, they stated I must have charged the battery too long. They did send me a replacement battery pack, but that wouldn't work for longer than 10 seconds, so I wrote back to tell them and they sent a response telling me to call them, which I did, and they rudely told me I would have to write a letter to Customer Service. I have yet to obtain an address. I am sure after I read all the complaints, that I will get absolutely nowhere with this company, and have decided it is a waste of time and energy to pursue this any further. It is obvious that this company does not back up a product that has proven to be defective, but their warranty has expired, according to them. I will never order anything again from a TV ad.

I recieved this as a gift. I have not had battery issues yet but I am sure it will probably happen soon. It is a sad little machine but for what I use it for, it has done OK. I have used this sweeper everyday. I think the main reason why everyone is upset with performance is that this product is not meant for Heavy duty cleaning. It is for people who actually keep up with their house work. A few crumbs in the kitchen after cooking, fine. Trying to sweep up cat hair on a wooden floor after a month of not sweeping, disaster. I think that for the most part its crap. If you are looking for something to solve all of your cleaning issues, hire a FT maid. If you are looking for a better alternative to a hand vac, this is probably a good buy. Also, remember battery should not be left charging forever. Its like a cell phone battery. If you overcharge it, it will crap out.

i replaced the battery on june 3, 2008.(thats when i ordered it)the battery just died and i called customer service and they said too bad order another one the batteries are not under any type of warranty after the customer service girl said i had 90 days. the product is junk and so is their customer service if anyone buys this products they better be prepared to keep buying batteries. this swivel sweeper is the worst product ever.

The problem with the battery is that it is on continuous charge. As with so many of these cordless appliances, the charger never shuts off. Standard Nicad and NiMh batteries cannot be left on continuous charge. They will be ruined fast. There are Nicad and NiMh cells that are rated for continuous charge, but most manufacturers don't use them. They put in standard ones, and rake in the cash when customers keep coming back buying replacement batteries. You can make your batteries last longer buy remembering to stop the charger after about 12 hours. For replacements, you can get a rebuild-it done on the pack and be sure to specify cells that are rated for continuous charge. The cost will usually be the same or less than a battery from the manufacturer, and you will have a reliable long lasting battery.

Bought two of these. After a couple of months the battery goes dead and I cannot get more than a few seconds out of it. So this product is really not worth the price.

My husband purchased this sweeper from the infomercial and like many of you I loved it at first but soon became disappointed. It never really had enough power to work on our carpeted areas, but it worked great on the vinyl kitchen & bathroom floors. My first BIG problem with the sweeper is that the waste collection tray is MUCH TOO SMALL. I am always having to stop to clean it out --- sometimes 2 or 3 times for one room. Also, because of its poor design, it is impossible to get that stupid little waste collection tray off the sweeper to empty it without dumping 1/2 the contents BACK onto my floor! I love the sleek profile and it really does suck up stuff from the sides but the suction power and the small waste collection tray make it tedious to use. Finally, the big bummer...the battery died after just 2 months of occasional (maybe 3 times per week) use. I really hope the manufacturer develops this product more because it has potential to be a good one.

I loved the sweeper until the batterys quit holding a charge. what a shame. the company has a great product if the batterys didnt go bad on them now I have 2 sweepers that are useless. will have to go buy a different one at the store not the swivel sweeper

i received a swivel sweeper for xmas . in the begining it was fine. this swivel sweeper is not what they say it is.
i also had a problem recharging the sweeper. i kept the batery in overnite and tried to use it the next day. no luck. very weak, didnt do the job at all.
battery did not recharge well enough that i could use it on the floor. i would say 5 seconds on my sweeper. waste of money and a big disappointment.
